Are you kidding me? Trading Camby means you're confident heading into next season hoping for
1.) Oden to stay healthy/play heavy minutes through fouls
2.) Hope you luck out on a good drafted big
3.) Hope you can pawn off scraps to another team for a good big
or 4.) Are confident you can sign (or overpay, like most teams do) a decent big after the new CBA comes into effect

And EVEN THEN, we are super thin up front and completely screwed if LMA goes down for any amount of time over a week. That is just way too much risk to take for any team.

I think the odds of Camby being healthy next season are in the same ball park of the Blazers getting a nice big man with the MLE. Not much of a risk IMHO in trading an aging vet in the twilight of his career.

This. Miller/Camby/Nico for Parker/Jefferson/Pick 29. They are trying to dump Jefferson and his contract, so they are going to have to give up something too.

Since I don't know what was really on the table, it's kind of hard to be hard on the Blazers for saying no to Jefferson for ???

Maybe this deal isn't done for yet, each team waiting to see who will blink first?

No, no, the idea here is you just decide what they must have offered based on your own prejudices, and then insist that the blazers are morons for not taking your imagined offer, and suggest that hat guy is responsible for the failure to make your imagined trade.

Fun for the whole family. Ages 2 and up.

I would do that trade. Flip Rudy for #20 & take Fariad. You still are a little thin up front, but there are some "ok" FA out there.

Didn't this same thing happen last year when the Bobcats said we needed to include Batum in the deal. Who blinked first? ;)

There likely won't BE a MLE with the next CBA. The Blazers currently have one of the highest payrolls of any team. My hunch is that after the new CBA kicks in, the Blazers will be in one of the teams in a bad position in regards with ability to sign free agents.

Besides, Camby is better than just about all of the big men you listed. Keeping him also doesn't prevent the Blazers from going out to try and get another big. With Camby, our depth is bad, but without him, it's unreal...

Yeah, Camby's a big guy, and yeah, losing him would make us thin up front. BUT, if Jefferson for Camby is the cost of Miller/Batum for Parker/29, then I think you have to do it. Everyone agrees that the one thing we need to increase is talent. IMO, this does that.

Dude.. Camby kinda sucks now. Wouldn't be hard to get a serviceable big to replace him.

Yeah right. His TRB% of 24.1 would have lead the league had he played in enough games and is one of the highest in league history (Dennis Rodman is the ONLY player in league history to ever post a higher TRB%). His BLK% of 5.0 is also very good. Who else are we going to get who provides that kind of rebounding (for comparison, Kevin Love's "historic" league leading TRB% was 23.6 and Dwight Howard was at 21.8). And just so you don't think that was a fluke, Camby did lead the league in TRB% the previous season at 22.2. Camby is a great rebounder, and he's getting better with age. His TRB% the past two seasons are the two highest of his very long career. Yeah, he isn't much on offense, but he is an excellent passer (for a big man - AST% = 11.7), a dominant rebounder and can defend the paint. At this point in his career, he would be the perfect back-up and mentor to Greg Oden (and still a serviceable starter if Oden goes down - again).
