Well when I heard that Chad Buchanan was going to be the interim GM and he openly confessed that his biggest weakness is "falling in love with his own guys" I pretty much guessed that this kind of thing would happen.
Actually, three years ago, Baron Davis was averaging 21 ppg, 8 apg, 4 rpg, and 2 spg. And only a year before that, he averaged 25 ppg in the playoffs and he won a round, something Miller has never done. When he is motivated, he can play like a top 5 player in the league. He was excited about the Clippers but then Elton Brand left him at the altar and he stopped caring, I think. I would love having Baron Davis around. The lazy version of Baron produces about the same as Andre Miller. Maybe Baron would get excited playing for a playoff team again. I'm in.
Miller, Camby, Batum and our #21 for Davis, Sessions, JJ Hickson and #4. Then I'd try to trade down with the #4 if I think I can get Jonas Valanciunas (franchise center of the future) at 7,8 or 9. And hopefully pick up another pick in the teens to get a pf. Some say that Cleveland took on Davis' contract to get a draft pick (and so wouldn't be interested in salary dump) , not sure if that is true since at the time the pick was expected to be 7 or 8; anyway by now their thinking could have changed.
I think you actually supported that claim: they took Davis to get the #8 pick; why would they give up a better pick to get rid of him? Now, if they were getting Batum and shedding Davis' contract, then maybe the 4 might be up for grabs, but in that case, I doubt they'd give up Hickson.
