Detroit News - Ben Wallace isn't happy with the Pistons initial offer, the Detroit News is reporting. "It was disappointing," he said. "It was not at all what I expected." The Pistons' initial offer was a four-year deal starting at $11.5 million and would pay him $49.6 million over four years. It would make Wallace the highest-paid player on the team next season, eclipsing Rasheed Wallace's salary by $100,000. Pistons president Joe Dumars, reached by e-mail, said he didn't want to negotiate through the newspaper and declined comment. "No, the door's not closed (on the Pistons)," Wallace added. "I know it's a business and they have to run their business." Wallace met with Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles in Detroit on Saturday. He characterized the meeting as "real good" but added that no official offer was extended. Reports of the Bulls offering a contract starting at $13 million or $14 million were overstated, as were reports of the Bulls offering a five-year deal. "I ain't looking for more than four years," said Wallace.Heres an Article of the Bulls Offer.Detroit Free Press - Ben Wallace currently has two deals on his plate, according to the Detroit Free Press, with both the Pistons and the Chicago Bulls putting in their bids for the defensive player of the year's services for the next four years. The Pistons have offered a four-year deal worth approximately $48 million to Wallace in Detroit. And the Chicago Bulls , who sent coach Scott Skiles and vice president of basketball John Paxson to Detroit, have started bidding at closer to $52 million for four seasons. Wallace is an unrestricted free agent and can verbally agree to a deal at any time, but he can't sign a contract until July 12 at the earliest

I think it is between Pistons and the Bulls. And, the Pistons will probably get it.

Ben, your team has 4 All Star, possibly 5. What do you want the Pistons to do? Re-Sign you for $20 million per year?Well, although I'd love $4 million in my pocket, the difference between $52 million and $48 million shouldn't be enough for Ben to go to the Bulls. However, some believe he will

This is whatever, I trust Joe Dumars with everything - he has shown the Pistons that he knows what he's doing, so he'll figure a way to convince Ben.

Fans tend to get too conformtable with GMs, Dumars is a great GM, but players leave. its a part of the game is the cap era. It would probably be better for the Pistons if they released him also. They are already an aging team, and a huge contract will only hold them down.

I agree with Primetime, this team needs more depth and signing another player to a longterm deal is foolish. Instead of spending $60 million on Wallace they should spread it around on 3 players that can become valuable parts to the rotation. Players like Reggie Evans or Joel Przybilla for example.

^That's probably the smart thing to do, and would probably make them a better team, and for longer, which is important. But it'll be a public relations nightmare if they let him walk over 4 million, the Detroit fans won't like seeing the Bulls take their place at top of their division, which could happen.

What does he expect. The Pistons are an elite team with a bunch of talent in the starting lineup. They cant afford to pay everyone huge salaries. So they cant afford the price that Ben could probably get with other teams. A 12 mil salary is alot imo for a 31-32 year old that sucks offensively..

If I were ben, I would take the Bulls offer. The Bulls are a Perfect situation for him. Scott Skiles, a Defensive oriented coach is perfect for Ben and they have the Best Defense in the NBA would only get better if they signed Big Ben. The Bulls are the next up and coming team because of there youth, the Pistons are getting up there in age.

The contract we offered Ben is more than fair. He will realize that soon enough. The Pistons are the franchise that made him and I think that he will make the right decison when the time is right.
