Someone should have let them know that you do not start with your second round pick. Total whiff/reach brought to you by the Babbitt, Williams and Johnson braintrust! The lockout can't get here fast enough to handcuff these fools.
You know what makes this worse? Is that not only did we have to trade Rudy AND Koponen to DAL to get the #26 and trade with Miller for Felton, but as PART of the deal (allegedly) DEN SPECIFICALLY told POR they could NOT take Faried... I mean could DEN have screwed POR ANY WORSE for Felton? One of the WORST DRAFTS I have ever seen run by POR mgmt, this may eclipse last year... Oh, and we still don't have any answers at PF\C....
Yeah, it's pretty fucking bad dude. You'd think that Felton was Rajon Rondo or something. Talk about a reach, and I'm not talking about Smith.
So, we get worse and help make a division rival better. Yeah, what a red letter day for the Blazers. That red letter being an F. So, when did Chad Buchanan become the head of college scouting? When was the last time we drafted, or made a draft day trade for, a college player who wasn't absolute shit - who actually lived up to expectations and was better than other college players still on the board? Batum was the last player we drafted to justify his draft position - and he wasn't a college player. Buchanan was horrible at identifying college talent and is very rapidly proving himself to be a horrible interim GM. But hey, he makes Paul Allen comfortable, so that's all that matters, right? I thought we were in "win now" mode, not "get worse now". BNM
If POR does getHamilton then not AS bad, but that has not been confirmed that Hamilton is coming here...
Felton/Hamilton for Miller/Rudy/Koponen is a failure? I think it's OK. A 'C' at this point. Dumb post, and too long, as usual.
I don't think we got fleeced. But it's like a bleh/blah feeling right now. Kind of underwhelming. Losing Rudy isn't that big of a deal since we've got Roy/Mattews/Batum who could fill his shoes. And replacing Miller with Felton is a wait-and-see kind of thing but he is younger. Not drafting Faried is a head-scratcher. We'll never get that bruising, hard-nosed backup PF!!!!!
That's my biggest concern. Then again, I think it's a good indication that the Blazers are going to do what they can to convince Greg Oden to stay in Portland.
I love it. a month ago: "let's trade rudy for ANYTHING we can get. he fucking sucks!" we trade him :MARIS61: OMG we got hosed!!!! he's goign to blow the fuck up now!
Miller 2009-10 Regular Season: PER = 17.8 ORtg = 111 DRtg = 108 WS = 7.0 WS/48 = 0.124 Raymond Felton 2009-10 Regular Season: PER = 16.6 ORtg = 108 DRtg = 111 WS = 5.4 WS/48 = 0.094 Miller 2010 Playoffs: PER = 18.9 ORtg = 114 DRtg = 117 WS = 0.4 WS/48 = 0.106 Raymond Felton 2010 Playoffs: PER = 11.2 ORtg = 94 DRtg = 111 WS = 0.0 WS/48 = -0.001 Felton's PER of 16.6 was a career high and was greatly inflated by playing over 2/3 of his games in D'Antoni's system. His PER in Denver was only 14.7, which is very close to his career average of 14.5. Yeah, Miller is older, but he's an iron man who is still more productive than Felton, who, other than 54 games under Mike D'Antoni, is, and has always been, a below average NBA player. If the goal is to win more games next season, I don't see how that accomplishes that goal. Well, maybe Denver will elect not to pick up Miller's team option and we can resign him. Otherwise, this sure looks like a downgrade of talent to me. BNM
Why in the world did anyone want to KEEP Rudy?! Seriously?! What more did (or less) did he have to do before some of you realized he was not going to pan out in the NBA? Sheesh.
