<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Detroit Pistons have placed a call to the representatives of free agent guard Bonzi Wells, who they drafted 11th overall in 1998 and traded to Portland, the Detroit Free Press is reporting.Wells reportedly wants a deal for five years starting near $8 million a season, a figure the Pistons might not be willing to pay, especially since Wells would come off the bench. But he fits the profile of one of their primary needs -- a scorer who can slash and attack defenses off the dribble. The Sacramento Bee reported Sunday that general manager Geoff Petrie started the bidding for Wells at something more than the roughly $5-million trade exception. The Denver Nuggets are also high on Wells.</div>I think it's a waste of money to pay a bench player that much. I doubt he would want to backup guys like Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton too..I think they should go after a less expensive guard..

At the end of the day it is up to Wells, there will be teams out there that will just throw $$ at him but hopefully Sheed can convince him enough to sign w/ the Pistons. The only team I can see pursuing him is the Nuggets and I know Wells would be thrilled to play alongside Carmelo. I am hoping for the Pistons to re-sign Ben then concentrate on Wells and after w/ whatever $$ they have left hopefully re-sign Lindsey and sign a baCk up point guard. HoLLa baCk

What's the story w/ Bonzi? The last few days he hasn't been mentioned anywhere, I am assuming the signing of Nazr takes the Pistons out of the running for Bonzi unless we do a sign and trade? Can someone fill me in if they heard anything about Wells? HoLLa baCk
