..the Blazer signed Jeff Pendergraph? In other words, might he be better than any PF the Blazers may have selected (without a trade) in this year's draft?
We need a Big Bruiser for the next time Camby goes down. He says his shoulder still hurts. Pendergraph's cheap. Like to find a Better Big Bruiser.
Joke of a front office if guys like Pendergraph, Johnson, Barron get any significant playing time next season
If they sign Pendergraph, it's not a good sign. Although I think Johnson could be a decent big, I hope they have something planned for a backup 4/5. Someone who is like 6'10" and has a body like Brendan Haywood or Kwame Brown. Getting the PG was nice, but what about the bigs?
Agreed. Pendy was a weak PF who never really showed he belongs in the NBA. His last Summer League was embarrassing and had he not a contract I doubt he would have made the team. We HAVE to address how to spell LA this next season so he doesn't burn out at the end like he did this past one. .
I'd rather sign Chris Johnson or look for an undrafted player. Jeff was atrocious, I don't want him on the team.
I'd feel the total lack of interest that the necessary but ultimately not-that-important moves to bring in summer/training camp fodder inspires in me. If he was brought in as some kind of "big man depth" solution, I'd feel like the team is in a lot of trouble.
Pendy is a very strong PF but had to play in the center position all the time. No way he can match up with a center who is 3 inches taller and 40 pounds heavier but there are very few true centers in the league anymore, as for a backup PF I wouldn't mind him for 10-15m a night. He isn't anything special but he is a banger type in the mold of Bass. Again he is nothing special but it wouldn't kill me to see him on the court as a PF, if we put him as a center were just asking to have him to get out muscled much like Cunningham was.
He had his moments, but all-in-all he didn't show me any true NBA talent. Now, to be sure, that doesn't mean he can't be with hard work. I mean, I love his attitude. But he'd have to make wholesale improvements before we'll see him again.
I'm not saying he is a true NBA talent, but with the FA out there i'm not really excited about any of the PF options (chuck hayes is a great player but his SUCKS at rebounding mostly because of his size) and I can see us bringing in Jeff for another look. Guy can rebound to a decent extent and if he is in vs the backup PF of other teams then I can see him getting a decent rebound rate. I keep bringing in rebounding because it seems to be our second biggest flaw from our bench (first being scoring). Guy is tough and will knock someone on there ass and grab an open board, pretty much all i want from a backup 4.
Chuck's career RBD% is on par with guys like Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins. He's not a great rebounder by any means, but he's perfectly adequate. With Aldridge and Wallace beside him, rebounding shouldn't be that big of an issue.
