The rebounding of our bench has been a problem and Hayes would have to be in the game with Wallace/Aldridge/Camby to make up for the fact he gives up a huge amount of defensive rebounds.

I don't understand what you mean by he gives up a huge amount of defensive rebounds, his DRB% for his career is 21.3%. Also, he would most certainly be on the floor with one of Wallace/Aldridge/Camby/Oden at all times, because of the thinness in the frontcourt.

Exactly... making up for lack of athleticism with smart play. That, my friend, is what we call High Basketball IQ.

Chuck Hayes only gets 20.7 rebounds available to him on a team that doesn't have any great rebounders. That is sixth worst for starting centers in the league.

I was saying if he wasn't on the court with 2 of the 4 at all times he is going to be a liability on the rebounding end(i'd say defensive end but he is one damn pesky defender for his size). He had a huge spike on rebounding last year going from an avg of 5.2 to 8.6 with a spike of only 8 minutes in pt but that was starting for a team with no elite rebounders and because of that they gave up more offensive rebounds then everyone but 5 other teams. I don't think he would rebound that well for us and he would give up offensive boards to taller players all the time.

His rebounds didn't spike, his minutes did. His career TRB% is 16.4%, in line with his TRB% last season. There's nothing bad about that at all, and puts him among the top 20 players in the league that play significant minutes.

I think it's funny you gripe about his offensive rebounding since he was 9th in ORB% last year and was better than our own LaMarcus Aldridge, who's got almost half a foot on him. He obviously plays bigger than his size. Chuck is also one of the best post defenders in the game and doesn't require any plays run for him. He's the type of player that would fit on almost any team
