http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2011/06/nba_age_rule_complicates_blaze.html Interesting situation
Some more problems for the Wolves regarding the Flynn to Houston trade. Plus they worked so hard to tank it at the end of the season to get last place, and they still didn't get the number one pick. Then they were so upset about it that Kahn publicly insinuated that the draft was rigged despite getting #2. No matter what's going on in Portland lately, I can always look at the Wolves and say, "Well, at least we're not them."
This was all brought up in another thread. I love that the media is on to it several days later though
Funny that the guy who accused Portland of not being forthcoming regarding the health of a traded player (Martell Webster) is now accused (and it appears on the surface that Minnesota is somewhat guilty) of the exact same. Oh, David Kahn, you never fail to entertain.
I would think it was Portland's pick, since the Denver and Dallas deals are supposedly considered final. My question is what else is part of the supposed Minnesota deal? Was there more to it, or did we just deal the No. 57 for a future second-rounder?
You guys should listen to the BS Report from Friday ... Kahn sounds almost ... "smart?" (I think that's the word I'm looking for?)
I thought trades weren't officially finalized until a week or so after the draft. Plus, why would those deals be finalized, while Portland picking for Minnesota not be finalized? Weren't they all made on the same day? If Kahn backs out of this trade because of his own error, his credibility will be severely compromised around the league. Why would anybody trust working with him?
Well, considering we're supposedly introducing Felton to Portland media tomorrow, I'd assume that deal is finalized. As for the reason the Minnesota deal wouldn't be finalized? Um, as has been reported in every article on the subject, an player deemed ineligible for the draft was drafted. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with Kahn trying to back out - I would assume everyone is trying to figure out what to do about drafting an ineligible player. I actually would like to see Kahn try to back out. That would just have people thinking he was even more bat-ass crazy than they already do. I wonder if the Minnesota scout that pushed to draft Tanguy will be fired. Talk about egg on your face. You're paid to do one thing, and you made an error on the most basic of things.
http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2011/06/nba_age_rule_complicates_blaze.html Can you CBA experts quote or link to this unknown, secret rule? The current problem is really Stern's fault for having the stupid rule. Most people are at least 22 on the day they graduate. No seniors with a redshirt year can be drafted.
Both of the other guys we drafted this year are 22. There's a special rule for international players: Ed O.
So, when it turns out Biyombo was really 24 when drafted, does that mean he'll instantly become a FA?
http://www.oregonlive.com/nba/index.ssf/2011/06/nba_high-5_61.html Can this guy get any trade right? Flynn's got a bad hip so Minnesota had to throw in another 2nd rounder.
A bit off-topic but the T-Wolves have a pretty interesting roster with some young talent and some deep positions. I recognize their biggest weakness at SG, maybe we could help them for front-court help. Probably wouldn't give up Kevin Love but maybe Anthony Randolph. Nikola Pekovic will come even cheaper and he was considered a very good Center when in Europe.
