Cheick Kongo is still in the UFC?

Wouldn't mind seeing a few of those prelims....

Strange for the UFC to be on a Sunday but I'll take it.

No word yet on which fight will be bumped up to the main show--likely Griffin/Gamburyan.

Kongo/Barry presumably the new main event.

Re: UFC Live: Kongo vs. Barry (Jun. 26th)

    Without question.

The Griffin and Gamburyen as well as the Stevenson/Vasquez fights are hard to call, i'm having a hard time trying to pick winners. I'll be interested to see who is stronger out of Griffin and Manvel. I'm leaning towards Griffin and Vasquez though. That said both fights look interesting, and are great first fights to 145 for Griffin and Stevenson, no freebies just because they're dropping down in weight! I love it. Wishing one of those two was on the main card over Howard/Brown. Which is another toughie to call a winner for, both guys will look to bring it. I'm taking Howard because I think he has more KO power, and that's all.

Morecraft might be slightly more well rounded and technical than Mitrione, but I think Mitrione hits harder and is just naturally more athletic and Dick Roufos's gym I think is a lot better. I would probably go with Mitrione, but I don't know.

Barry/Kongo is a little bit tough, but I will take Kongo because he has a longer reach, a more diverse tool belt, and I just think he's meaner. But like has been said, if Barry connects flush he always has a chance of putting Kongo out cold.

Wowowowow! What a finish! That is an epic knockout. Perhaps the biggest comeback ever. Even bigger than Edgar/Maynard 2. Kongo was 99% out two or three times before the finish. Big Dan stepped in to stop it but saw that Kongo was holding on for life and let it go. Craziness.

Cheick Kongo, Joe Lauzon, Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz each earned $50,000 "Fight Night" bonuses for their performances at Sunday's "UFC on Versus 4: Kongo vs. Barry" event.

Joe Daddy's fourth straight UFC loss probably means he's cut.

Tyson Griffin escapes the same fate with a win over Manny Gamburyan.

Disappointed with John Howard. He has talent but he doesn't seem to have much heart (or conditioning, or both).

Great showing by Charlie Brenneman. Late replacements are dangerous. They have zero pressure on them. Story takes a chance on a replacement opponent and loses his gambit. Very tough loss for Story who has to work his way back up again.

Kongo/Barry was an instant classic. Barry always puts on a great fight. Kongo was on queer street yet he never stopped fighting. Kudos to him. He's taken a lot of heat for being a dirty fighter but the guy has that killer instinct that sets him apart. Barry was gutted.

Also impressed with Mitrione who keeps sticking to a winning formula. He punches faster than most heavyweights and is probably going to get a chance to avenge his teammate Barry since matching up Kongo and Mitrione seems an easy decision to make.

I think BJ Penn broke him. He went from being a dominating ground and pound fighter with a vicious guillotine to a jab and jogger. I hope he wasn't motivated by bonuses. He'll probably pop up in the MFC or elsewhere.

That really was an amazing knockout by Kongo. Both guys deserve a world of credit for delivering fire works in such a short time frame. Pour Barry got caught swarming for the kill, it's just one of those situations where you have to go for it and leave yourself at risk. Unfortunately the risk didn't pay off. I like the idea of a Meathead Kongo fight, would be real interested to see what kind of game plan Matt would come in with.

This is the second time we have seen a contender get derailed by taking a dangerous fight in two months. Pettis/Guida, now Story/Brenneman, I don't usually like to make excuses but how much do you think preparing for Marquardt and then suddenly having to fight someone of much lesser name value hurt the Story edge/mentality heading into this fight?

Can't wait for the next one, that UFC 132, gonna be epic!
