WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) will be looking to score his 40th knockout of his career on September 10th against Polish heavyweight Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) at the Stadion Miejski, in Wroclaw, Poland. Some boxing fans believe that Adamek has the skills to beat Vitali, while other fans see Adamek losing but giving Vitali a lot of problems along the way. I haven’t seen anything special from Adamek to make me think he’ll do anything other than get beaten and beaten badly. Adamek, like cruiserweight transplant David Haye, has been been put in with mostly older heavyweights long past their prime. To say that Adamek has been carefully matched would be far too kind. If you look at his opposition, he’s only been in with one decent heavyweight and that was Chris Arreola, who hurt his left hand early in their fight and wasn’t able to use it effectively. Arreola still was able to stagger Adamek several times in the fight. If Arreola had been injury free, Adamek likely would have been knocked out. Adamek was also staggered by 38-year-old Michael Grant and that was in a fight that Grant threw very punches. Vitali will be throwing a lot of shots and the only that Adamek will be able to survive is if he runs all night long. If he does that, he’ll have chance of winning.
