Saw this ABC earlier today. Not sure about the LA Times headline, but the one on ABC was pretty misleading. The accident happened after they filmed for the day and the driver was headed back to the station (or wherever the cabs go). The headline made it sound like a distracted driver (due to the show) hit someone. It's still unfortunate, but no more so than any random car hitting/killing a random pedestrian.
