The investigation found that former assistant coach D.J. McCarthy improperly arranged for transportation and housing....

The violations reported in the case also included more than 3,600 phone calls that three noncoaching staff members either made to or received from high school coaches and administrators, prospects and family members of prospective students.

The NCAA accepted LSU's self-imposed reduction of two scholarships, as well as a 10 percent reduction in official visits and reductions in recruiting calls.

Kind of sucks for LSU. I have a feeling that they're like Oregon, and may be too honest with the NCAA.

LSU had major recruiting violations well past the "gray area" stuff that Oregon has been crucified in the media for. Their coaches paid for a recruits unofficial visit and his housing... things that have been spelled out as against the rules for a while now.

What the two schools do have in common is that both have been reportedly open in their dealings with the NCAA. We'll see what they (the NCAA) decides to do soon enough, but I take this ruling as another positive
