I was very much impressed with Armon's defense when I saw him play last year.

Agreed on AJ's D. After only one year, the Jury's still out on him. His ball handling is solid, protecting the ball well, and his shooting could be. The missing key piece for him IMO, would be his on-court vision. Of-course that often comes with experience, catch 22.

As far as Batum starting over Wallace, I think their interchangeable depending on pace and match-up's. In a slower pace first unit I like Batum, if Nate finally decides to push the pace this year then obviously G

I love Batum. Love, love, love him. But there is no way he should start at the same position over Wallace.

So the one thing everyone agrees on is we need a backup big. We have 4 bigs, 2 of which are injured a lot (Camby/Oden)and 1 is at best a 10m hustle guy who shouldn't be relied on (Johnson). If there is no MLE in the new CBA then there really aren't a lot of options of players we could get for the Min. Two of the players who we might get for that are McRoberts/Pendy I like both, there not superstars or even average starter level players but each is a backup type player who could fill in tell we make moves to shoreup our frontcourt for the future, or somehow get Oden stays healthy.

We need a solid, imposing, better than average backup big, there's no way around it. Pendy/CJ can back that person up. The longer we wait to find that player the worse off were gonna be. With our slow pace it's imperative to play big and own the boards at all times.

We don't have the money for a better then average big. The expendable pieces we have aren't exactly going to entice other teams to send us a better then average big. Unless we give up Batum/Wes were only going to get whoever we can sign to the minimum.

Maybe "depth" is the wrong term in this instance.

Okay when I said better than average I guess I meant bigger than average, or someone who at least plays like it. We need some toughness off the bench, an enforcer like Joel used to be.

And what do you know, Maris is funny for once! Indeed depth is the wrong word, that's why I puked on the first page.

Pendy is the definition of an enforcer type player. He got a tech 1 minute into his first game vs McDyess that's a big reason why I would like him back. As for a bigger then normal type, not sure who on the market you would consider a bigger then normal Big.

Would be nice to get Dalembert then, I was thinking more of a backup 4 then a backup 5. At the 5 we have Oden/Camby/Johnson, which is nice if Oden can stay healthy, but at the backup 4 we have Wallace/Batum that is about it no true PF.

Seems like a damn good 8 man rotation with filler sliding in at the 1 and Camby somehow playing backup 4/5. Works if Oden can stay on the court and healthy for 30+M (I know even when Oden was healthy he usually had 5 fouls in 20-25m).

i agree, although if one of armon/smith/patty can contribute efficiently, and we can pick up a league average backup 4, we will be deep, dark, and dangerous, just like i like my dongs

    Re:

You're overshooting this. Greg's last healthy stretch was his 2009/10 season, where he averaged 6 fouls in 36 minutes. Simple math has him averaging picking up his 5th foul in 30 minutes.

if Camby's knee is right he'd be an absolutely great backup 4/5 option able to compliment either LA or Greg. The few backup 4's who might have too much lateral quickness for MC would be in Gerald's wheelhouse. IF everyone is healthy, the frontcourt projects to be pretty awesome.
