Incoming St. John's freshman Maurice Harkless will be eligible to play for the Red Storm this coming season.

"We are pleased that late Thursday, the NCAA informed us they have concluded their review of incoming men's basketball student-athlete Maurice Harkless," read a statement released by St. John's. "Harkless will now be a part of the incoming 2011 class that will begin school in the fall semester. We have been working in collaboration with the Big East conference and the NCAA's basketball focus group throughout the review process."

Harkless, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward from Queens, finished his high school career at the South Kent School in Connecticut, after transferring from Forest Hills High School. The question regarding his eligibility stemmed from two AAU tournaments in which Harkless participated as a member of the New York Gauchos (his primary AAU team was the New York Panthers). Current St. John's director of basketball operations Moe Hicks served in an administrative capacity with the Gauchos at that time.
