http://espn.go.com/college-football...llie-lyles-sold-video-lsu-no-recruiting-value Ok, so as more information comes out, the picture become more clear that Lyles was just a crappy business man who provide a crap service. As previously stated, LSU paid Lyles more than Oregon, and used him for YEARS, where as, Oregon paid him once and got out. That says a lot. Also stated in this article is the FACT that other agencies, including SCOUT, receive $25,000 for services. This pretty much eliminates the claim that Oregon knowingly overpaid in an attempt to buy Lyles and his influence. An "Outside the Lines" review of video scouting reports purchased by the LSU football program last fall from talent scout Willie Lyles has found they contain highlights of players who already were playing Division I football at other programs and poor-quality, full-game shoots that did not isolate or identify any players at all. The analysis of video footage obtained by "Outside the Lines" through a public-records request concludes that the information would likely be of little use during the recruiting process The "Outside the Lines" review of the video reports in Lyles' "2010 JUCO per State Package ... Game Film from California and Kansas Junior Colleges" shows some discs contain chunks of games that were of poor video quality -- some dating to 2007 -- with no information about specific players on them. Like a representative for scout.com, Richard Davis, national sales manager of Player Direct, which is the college recruiting arm of Digital Sports Video, said he was unaware his company's footage had been used by Lyles, who was not a client of the site. "We had suspected some recruiting services got to our (video) library," Davis said. "We are a password-protected site." Davis said his company has footage of 60,000 high school games on the site's server and colleges pay up to $25,000 for access to the footage.
No one has denied bad business deal. But it's throwing more water on the "fire" for an incessant desire for this to be the death of the Ducks
Explain to me how this is more proof?? Exactly, please. You do understand the difference between proof and assumptions, correct? The only thing this proves is that Lyles ran a scam and preyed on schools. Did you even read the article and where he got his info? Weren't you the one saying the $25,000 payment was proof of Oregon's guilty in "buying influence" because it was 'so much money'? Turns out, it's the normal range for market demand. I've continued to say Oregon will be found guilty in minor violations and receive minimal sanctions. What this now proves is that Lyles was simply running a B A D business, and good for Oregon for cutting ties after one year. Other school/s not only paid more to Lyles but had a longer standing relationship. Even though every headline screams "$25,000", the sum of money is no longer the focus. Now, we need to evaluate the relationship Lyles had with the University. Given he worked with multiple schools, from Oregon, Cal, LSU and even Oregon State with whom he said he "gave" several high profile players to, this is continuing to look less and less like an isolated issue and a broader patter with recruiters and Lyles himself. I'm going to toast to you, soon, when Oregon receives minimal sanctions and gets back to gridiron dominance. Since you put so much stock in what the media says, how do you feel about being ranked #52 out of 120 by rivals/yahoo sports???
I've read that several collages paid him for, er, services. If the NCAA is going to hammer us they'll also have to hammer all the other teams. That's why I think it'll be a slap on the wrist.
Haha @ Wheels. If what Lyles says is true, it could be a violation for OSU to receive this kind of service, as a free perk.
you said it yourself didnt you? "ANY dealings with him are inappropriate" then when asked about Lyles and OSU you just refer to what OSU didnt do.
Yah, keep your stadium full of ignorance. And LOL at Wheels for insinuating I'm being hypocritical. You guys cheated. There's no question in my mind about that. It's just a question of what can be proven.
Quizz said last year he had 90 pairs of Air Jordans. Who paid for those? http://heismanpundit.com/2010/07/09/q-a-with-oregon-states-jacquizz-rodgers/ 90 pairs of Jordans is no joke, and no small investment. How does a kid with a father in prison get that sort of money? Hell, Cliff Harris' parents had to take out a bank loan to get him $8k to pay off his traffic violations.
pray tell then please, I wasnt insinuating you were being hypocritical. I was showing a contradiction in what you stated. Does that bother you that someone asks about that?
You are being hypocritical. I think we all get it, you hate the Ducks, the Ducks are bad, the Ducks cheat, you hope the Ducks get in huge trouble. You're going to keep beating this drum in a Duck forum because it pisses Duck fans off.
Maybe we broke rules and maybe we didn't. I'll let the NCAA determine that- not you. And if we did violate rules, I'm willing to take the beat down. From the people I know who are "in the know", at least 90% of NCAA schools cheat to some degree. And as a rule, the bigger the program the more the cheating. You can bag on UO for getting caught all you want, but your school cheats too. So your holier than thou game is a fail.
