Hmm ok...Im still praying you are just messing with me but here it goes....

    1. Rock stars also die of overdoses and thrash hotel rooms....I dont want to do that either. Im not a poser, a wannabe, or trying to "make it"....I play guitar for my enjoyment. Rock stars also bash guitars because they are sponsored and dont give a shit if they break it or not. Id rather have a guitar that is built well, has great tone, and perfect intonation. Are you a rock star? No? Is that an actual really old strat with legitimate wear and tear? No? Well sir, you are a poser....

    2. "Relic" guitars I would think are bought as either display pieces or really insecure musicians....it just seems like a very stupid gimmick concept. Damaging well built instruments yourself for "character" is a close second in the stupidity category.

    3. Please know what the fuck you are talking about. The "paper thin" maple top you refer to is actually 20 mm thick of AAAA grade flamed maple. http://www.carvinguitars.com/catalog/guitars/index.php?model=ct6

Should I have chain link as a guitar strap too?

dont take it personal man, i just dont like shiny guitars, you do, its all good

and save the "i dont want to be a rock star" crap please lol, like getting paid to play music and fuck hot groupies would be a non-starter, i have a feeling you would jump at the chance

if you are really planning on just playing in your bedroom for fun, then it mystifies me why how your guitar looks matters in the slightest anyways, the real question should be how does it play, and ordering one off of a website can be hit or miss

maple tops are whatever (i like flame and tigers eye), but 20 mm is a nice one my bad (why wouldnt they just say 2 cm? 2 cm sounds better to me)

if you get i ding/nick in it (you will) it can really bum you out for a day or two...even though it hasnt affected the tone at all...just window dressing my friend, notch it up to the "character" you so despise haha dont wear a belt buckle or you will scratch the shit out of the back of it

the whole point of this thread was giving our opinions on the LOOK of your guitar, and this is mine, like i said, no offense, i wish you many years of happiness and enjoyment with your finely tuned instrument of death

I think you'll be happiest with that color choice a decade from now, although it won't be as cool right off the bat. It's a beautiful guitar; I've always enjoyed Carvin products. You'll have to post a photo when you receive it.

There are guitars that look best beat up and others that look best pristine. IMO, the Carvin falls into the latter category, just as a Tele would fall in the first.

lol, dont bullshit, you were trying to poke some buttons...

...and yes I enjoy getting laid, and I also enjoy performing (guitar not sex) for others...therefore I might join a cover band in the near future. I just wanna have fun with songs everybody knows already rocks....Ill keep my original stuff on Cubase (eventually).

Im fine with normal wear and tear, thats a big difference than forcing wear and tear on your guitar.....Last night I watched some old fat dudes on youtube "relic" their guitars...it was sad, and horrible looking. BTW, the Carvin CT-6 model came out in 2004...."Here is my 50 year old guitar from 2004" :P

I agree buying a guitar online is risky as hell, thats why I went to their Hollywood location as was able to play the exact model Im getting just with different aesthetics. Its fucking pure butter....You barley touch the string and they fret, yet stum hard and the was no buzz. It has stainless steel frets which will never indent from the strings, and makes bends super slick.....The carved top body of the guitar hugs your body and arm and makes you feel locked in.

The only thing I hear people sometimes bash Carvin over is their pickups...Other people love their pickups....But its a bullshit argument anyways. People buy $2000 Fenders and $3000 Gibson's and dopnt think twice about changing out the pickups and never knock the company because of it. Evidently Carvin slightly augmented their pickup holes a few years ago so most any aftermarket pickup can fit in there.

I already have an Ibanez with a Seymour Duncan "screaming deamon" pickup in the bridge....I dont need another metal guitar with crazy pickups. I hope I like their "classic" humbucker.

MaxieP: I agree....cant really be out of style with natural.....and in 20 years if I really wanna shine it up and buff it out/new clear coat it will be a lot easier. (Yup, thats how much against relicing I am, lol)

never once did i advocate unnaturally fucking up your guitar, only that a well played instrument has an aesthetic appeal to me personally

i see 10000 guitars a year at work, so the new looking ones are a dime a dozen, as in, there are a thousand people out there with your exact same guitar, just not my style.

not everyone has to agree with you rizz :)

and good call on the pickups, you already have the screamer rig for leads, and you can always swap them out as you see fit, but im sure youll love em

I've also thought about swapping out J.Cash's guitar and going with Tim Armstrong's Gretsch instead.

Actually not true at all...the body style is the only thing standard on a Carvin....there are countless options.

So 10, 000 guitars a day? You work at the Satan that is Guitar Center? I used to work there for a few back in the day...it was slave labor back then.
