A rather uninspired game culminated in a dust-up with Gervinho, who went down after some slight contact in the box, and the inimitable Joey Barton, who dragged him up by the scuff of his kit only to be slapped in the face for his efforts. Gervinho was handed a red card but Barton, the instigator, skated with a yellow after collapsing at the enormous impact of the half-slap delivered by Gervinho during the scrum. No goals were scored (or threatened, really) in the game that saw Arsenal try and fail to create chances without their three best midfield players (Fabregas, Nasri, Wilshere). Inauspicious start to what could be the longest season for Gooners in the last decade.
Re: Arsenal draw with Newcastle, Gervinho sent off just finished the DVR... frak Barton big time. Why both werent sent off I have no idea.
Song has been charged with violent conduct for stepping on Joey Barton. Now we're likely to have two suspended players for next weekend. Joy.
