The UFC needs two three-round fights to air on the UFC on FOX show in November. Here are some ideas. These guys don't have fights booked already IIRC. Share some of your ideas, too. 135lbs. Michael MacDonald vs. Miguel Torres 145lbs. Mark Hominick vs. Chan Sung Jung 155lbs. Donald Cerrone vs. Cole Miller 170lbs. Rory MacDonald vs. Brian Ebersole 185lbs. Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva 205lbs. Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson 265lbs. Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem Love to see any of those fights.
I know its the same night as the Pacquaio fight and all, but I can't believe that for their network premiere, they're only going with a two fight card. That is absurd.
Very much a "dipping a toe in the water" situation. Why they couldn't start an hour earlier and give them two hours is beyond me.
Hendo/Machida is good. Bit of a risk putting Machida on TV considering his predilection towards being 'elusive'. Brock seems like a great idea to me if they can make it happen. They can promote Brock vs. just about anyone. Even a Lesnar/Carwin or Lesnar/Mir rematch.
No surprise--Hendo wants to come in and face Jon Jones right away, like Diaz vs. St-Pierre. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/8/18/2371420/dan-henderson-wants-a-title-unification-fight-in-ufc
Wand vs Akiyama could be fun, but I doubt Sexyama will be cleared to fight by then. Wanderlei vs Vitor? They've wanted to throw down for awhile. I agree putting Machida on the broadcast is very dangerous because of his elusive, counter punching style. Unless of course, he front kicks the living fuck outta his opponent again. Maybe they can get Lytle to fight one more time? He's always exciting. Maybe Rich Franklin?
Ugh, no Tito, he's washed up. Little Nog blew out his shoulder. Dunno if he will be ready to go by November. Franklin is an option. Dude is pretty reliable. Except he'll only fight top guys or big names.
I think November might be too early for Brock. But fights that I'd like to see, hmm, I agree with Hominick vs Korean Zombie. Rory Macdonald vs Diego Sanchez or Rumble Johnson. But I just checked the UFC website and Chuck is still listed as a fighter, maybe they do a Chuck vs Tito just for shits and giggles.
Tatame is reporting that the UFC wants Silva/Sonnen II or Silva/Hendo II for the card. IDK why the hell they would want Hendo/Silva II unless it was a 205 lb match? Even then, Silva fairly dominated Hendo the first time around.
Silva/Hendo 2 doesn't make sense. Hendo is the SF LHW champ. He should be fighting someone in that division. Silva/Sonnen 2 is fine given Silva beating Okami this weekend.
Would they schedule a championship fight with only an hour for the broadcast? I guess it could work if they aren't doing it spike TV style IE. 1 hour worth of fights 2 hours worth of commercials.
The UFC says they want to do a big fight for this event. Maybe 3-rounds non-title between Anderson and Hendo at 195 or something? Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida also possible as the other fight.
