Former NBA player Derek Anderson is having his name spoken to police by just about the last person in the world with whom you would want to be associated.

Wave3.com reports that Francois Cunningham, a Kentucky man who admitted to police that he was involved in purchases of kilograms of cocaine and that he caused the deaths of two people by allegedly throwing a molotov cocktail into their vehicle, is providing additional information into murders committed by his associates and the workings of the drug organization he was involved in as part of a "deal for early release."

In a taped interview with a police detective, Cunningham stated that former NBA player Derek Anderson bankrolled the drug operation.
Butler: "Was Derek Anderson ever present when you all bought narcotics?"

Cunningham: "Nah, he stays away from you know, he's just the money and he's not going to get around any of it but, that's who funnels the money."

Seems like he should have been able to cure his toothache, then.

DA never seemed like the type of guy that would get involved in something like this. Maybe he just has a friendly face, but this would be some heavy unexpected stuff from him.

He's a nice guy, which fits the stereotype of drug users. Keeping drugs illegal is a campaign to keep America mean, lean, competitive, and robotic.

I'm not a big DA fan, but I call BULL SHIT on this one. If DA was funding this at all, I bet it was by deception, thinking he was just helping out a guy he knew and had no idea what the money was used for.

Cocaine is not a big deal. :dunno:

Drug cartels are what people fear. Prohibition blows.

Haven't even looked at the board for a month, deleted from my Favorites, clicked by accident and saw this. I call bullshit. Not because a professed "holier than thou" type is incapable of gross hypocrisy. But that if it were true it would be all over ESPN. And since DA is a NY guy, probably on the NY Times as well. Hurricane or no hurricane.

Until I see something more reliable than an anonymous blog post, I'm not jumping on this bandwagon.

See you all in another 10 years or so if/when boardsters grow up.

First, Derek Anderson is not a "New York guy". He's from Kentucky.

Secondly, I say good riddance. You are a bitter person who had an agenda in virtually every post you contributed here.

Here's what's wrong with our "justice" system:

In exchange for agreeing to testify against Kelly and others, Cunningham, who had been charged with murder for fatally shooting two people in 2005 and burning their bodies in a car, was allowed to plead guilty last year to two counts of second-degree manslaughter, arson and tampering with physical evidence.

With credit for time he’d already served in jail awaiting trial, he was freed in April.

The practice of dealing-down on charges in exchange for ratting out other criminals needs to be completely outlawed.

This puke should have died in prison, regardless of whatever info he could or could not provide.
