I am calling for help from all the geeks out there!

So I'm obviously too cheap to pay for this media server program so I can stream movies from my drives from my home computer to my PS3 right? Right! So for the past year I have been putting movies on flash sticks and plugging them into my HDTV or PS3 to watch them. The HDTV acknowledges any flash drive, but not big external drives. If it did, I'd just keep 2 plugged into it all the time. So I just tried plugging in my new 3TB drive into my PS3 directly. It sees the drive, and sees the individual folders (Kids Movies/ TV Shows etc.) but when I click on those folders, it says NOTHING is in there! Even in the Kids Movies folder it sees individual movie folders, but when I click 'em, same thing, nothing! What am I doing wrong????? The PS3 will play movies off my Flash drives, but not the big external drives and it's pissing me off. Anybody know the trick to make my PS3 play movies off of a huge external drive. HELP ME COMPUTER NERDS........ You're my only help.

your PS3 is broken, as is your 3TB drive. I suggest you give them to me so I can discard them for you. No charge.

Where do you download your movies from? Is the picture quality good on a big HD tv?

I will end up just getting an AppleTV, but It will take me probably a year to convert all my movies to MP4!

On a serious note, did you try a google search? use key words, "PS3" "external hard drive" "movies" or something, I bet you're not the first person to have this issue.

Vuze is the program i use. They look great on my big HDTV! I have a Mac, but I know people that run Vuze on their PCs as well.

Does your laptop have a HDMI video output?

If yes get a HDMI cable and run it from your laptop to your HDTV. Connect your external drive to your laptop. Problem solved!

Does not. Plus I would just like to keep the drives plugged in at all times.
