Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) Always enjoy watching the Duke Roufus fighters-- Koch and Belcher included. Probably the flashiest camp out there right now.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) DeMarques Johnson & Mackens Semerzier both scratched.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) Seth Baczynski in.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) After the unfortunate passing of his father, the type of training camp Shields will have leading up to this fight has to be a major question I would think. It's huge that he has agreed to stay in this fight, and shows the kind of competitive spirit that Shields has. I'm hoping the best for him.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) Absolutely but I think if he hadn't been in the main event it might've been another story.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) Rob Peralta in vs. Mike Lullo

Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) ^ Everybody made weight and the event is a green light for tomorrow in the Bayou.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) Evan Dunham easily handles Shamar Bailey, who gets credit for toughness.

Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) 7,000+ people showed up in Nawlins to see the fights, which I thought was kind of low but apparently is a top-10 attendance figure for a Fight Night event. A $685,000 live gate meant that fans paid quite a bit out of pocket to see the event live (about $100/ticket if there aren't too many comps in the attendance figure).
Pretty average night of fights, really. Nothing terribly remarkable about any performance other than perhaps Ellenberger's best showing so far in the UFC. Brookins and Koch both fought well. Their fight was competitive but Brookins seemed to have a one-track mind and the track wasn't getting him anywhere. Alan Belcher looked special, as usual. He is a rising star in the middleweight division. Well-rounded skills but I wonder how well he can do against wrestlers. He has developed a lot. A rematch with Yushin Okami makes sense.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) I didn't think the Shields stoppage was early. Ellenberger could've kept pounding him for an hour from that position. Strange to see these top contenders (Hardy, Shields) getting knocked out after GSP went the distance with them. Doesn't really look good on GSP at all.
Re: UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou - Shields vs. Ellenberger (Sep. 17th) Ellenberger is 5-1 in the UFC with a split decision loss to Carlos Condit, which is hardly a knock against him. He has very good skills and obviously has dynamite hands. Don't know if he has anything to offer on the ground.

Ellenberger could give GSP a fit. He's strong enough and a good enough wrestler to keep it standing. I think he's just earned himself a match with the winner of Diaz/Penn or the loser of GSP/Condit.
