<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to Jeff Fried, the agent for Seattle restricted free agent Chris Wilcox, the two sides are "very far apart" from reaching an agreement on a new contract. What doesn't help the Sonics' cause, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, is the six-year, $60 million deal signed Sunday by Denver's Nene. The 6-foot-11 forward played one game last season before tearing his anterior cruciate ligament. He has averaged 10.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in three seasons with Denver, mainly as a starter. With that contract, the market appears to be setting itself. The Sonics will be hard pressed to get Wilcox with the midlevel exception. It's likely going to take in the neighborhood of $50 million over six years.</div>
Let him go, their not going to win anytime soon and this gives them room to play their bigs, since they have three projects at that position. Signing Wilcox to that kind of deal will hurt them later on, when they could get under the cap(Lewis deal another key expiring contract) while also having their bigs fully developed.
well they should have some consistency while they let their bigs develop. but i wouldn't want to give him that much money if i didnt plan keeping him so they should trade him. for role players.
He is a young big. If they let him go who starts at the 4 for them? Collison? They need some offense. They need to go back and not draft Sene, ahh they are a mess.
Seattle needs to give him what he wants. At some point in time, they need to build for the future. It needs to be quick too, because when Ray decides to retire or move on, that is going to be a major setback. They need to build around Ray and Rashard while they can.
