LSU fans have purchased 39,000 tickets...... Duck fans 15,000........ Sorry no link, just saw it on ESPN.
Believe you. Having been to most of our bowl games dating back to 97 (Vegas Bowl) Oregon DOES NOT travel well. I'd estimate our showing at the last two BCS games to be about 1 to every 3 opposing fans. It's really depressing, actually, and no joke -- I could see the team deflate as they came out of the tunnel to start the first half to huge games that might as well been played as an away game base on fan attendance. Yet, walk downtown P-town, and every other Joe-Shmoe wears Ducks gear and thinks he's the biggest fan around.
Nothing wrong with being broke. Just don't be broken... Hopefully as interest in Oregon football rises and with continued success, the amount of alum that travel increases too. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk...I love the interest UO football is getting throughout Oregon AND the world! Within the last few years, I've ran into Duck fans all over the US - even SEC land, and even fan into Duck fans in Greece, Egypt, S. America, Korea and Japan. Crazy, right!? I understood tOSU having such a better showing at the RB - despite it being so much closer to Oregon based on their size. We had no excuse when UA outnumbered us 3:1 at THE NC game. Ohio State enrollment: 65,000+ Auburn: 25,000 UO: 23,000
This is essentially a home game for LSU. Dallas is only a 7 hour drive from Baton Rouge. I will be there with my two kids screaming for the Ducks though
