Be warned that the UFC may announce their preview show set to broadcast on FOX in October. However the buzz is that the UFC will announce the main event of UFC on FOX and it will involve Alistair Overeem's debut.
Re: UFC on FOX main event to be announced tomorrow? Any guesses on what it will be? I'm thinking Mir/Overeem.
Re: UFC on FOX main event to be announced tomorrow? White has confirmed that the main event will be announced today at 1pm ET/10am PT.
Re: JDS vs. Velasquez title fight will be on FOX Nothing official yet but it sounds like Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos will be the fight they show on FOX. Since it is a five-rounder I dunno if they will schedule a co-main. Tito Ortiz vs. Rich Franklin rumoured.
Re: JDS vs. Velasquez title fight will be on FOX DFW has confirmed that the Velasquez/JDS fight has been officially moved from the UFC in San Jose show to FOX. There won't be a second fight on the show. If the fight doesn't go the distance I assume they will fill-in with the ten or eleven fights that take place prior to the main event, whatever ones are short and exciting.
Re: JDS vs. Velasquez title fight will be on FOX FOX will launch the UFC with a "Super Bowl tailgate" with celebrities, whatever the hell that means.
Re: JDS vs. Velasquez title fight will be on FOX Promos for the event will start tomorrow on FX (NCAA football & baseball). FOX is pretty happy that they are getting a title fight and I am guessing the UFC planned this announcement, teasing FOX with two non-title fights before deciding to go with the 5-rounder.
Re: JDS vs. Velasquez title fight will be on FOX That is huge having a heavyweight title fight between these two, as the first Fox Fight nights. It's a great move in my opinion, having these two fight on the first Fox Fight should really help to gain the interest of more fans and make them want to watch more fights.
Re: JDS vs. Velasquez title fight will be on FOX Velasquez vs. JDS is arguably the biggest heavyweight fight since Fedor/Cro Cop in 2005. Yet given the fact that 10m people could be watching this could be the biggest MMA fight period.
For all the people that were out there complaining "the UFC was trying to kill free MMA, with the purchase of Strikeforce," how is this for "FREE MMA?"
It took 3.5 minutes, according to DFW, to get Cain & Jr to switch from PPV to FOX. Seems like both fighters are way on board.
dayuum, sick announcement. This is gonna be such a good fight, AND WE GET TO WATCH IT FREE! hope no one gets injured.
I'm sort of glad in a hater-ish way because I was jealous that I would be in Italy while the Cain-JDS fight was in San Jose. Where is the Cain/JDS fight being held? And who replaces this fight for the main event in SJ at UFC 139? I'd like to see more of the AKA/Gracie guys and guys from the area on the card but I don't know if Faber can headline at this point and I don't see anything with Kos, Fitch, Shields interesting enough to make a main event and Nick Diaz won't be ready to fight again. Ortiz-Franklin isn't very interesting IMO. It'd be awesome if the UFC could swoop up Gilbert Melendez and give him a main event here. A #1 contender match? Gil last fought in April and has no fights scheduled (according to wiki).
