....I realize that trains are a great value.....especially for a single traveler. Round trip from Portland to Seattle is under $90 r/t...and that includes the business class seat I upgraded to for this trip back.

Very comfortable single seat (meaning, no seat next to me), no problem using cell phone, laptop wifi, got the iPod cranked, decent food in the bistro, and enjoying a tasty IPA.

And, best of all? No I-5 traffic to deal with!!

What do you do for transportation when you were up there?

90 bucks is worth skipping all the traffic (especially with gas being about 50)

Yeah, but it takes longer than driving to Seattle. I've done it before, it was pretty boring...then again, I was on the phone most of the ride with work, which sucked and I was hungover.

I took the train around Spain...took the high speed "AVE" train. It was more expensive than flying I believe, paid $170 for a one way ride. Again, I was hungover on the train...which made it suck. It was nice not having to go through security I guess though and just getting to a station and off and away.

There's an AMTRACK to San Diego, I just heard it sucks and is easier to drive there (quicker too).

To me, Trains only make sense if the car drive is 3-4 hours...but anymore then it makes more sense just hopping on a plane...but if you have a car, its good......any more, its worth to just hop on a plane to save the time.

I've always wanted to take the train down to San Diego.

I was following my friend's tweets about Amtrack's LA to SD route over the weekend:

    http://twitter.com/#!/djevilone

This train left an hour and a half ago. We just hit Fullerton. Not to mention @DjAsIs crapped his pants.

A.M.T.R.A.K. STANDS FOR COMPLETE FUCKING IDIOTS DOING TERRIBLE AT RUNNING A TRAIN.

FUCK AMTRAK AND YOUR STUCK FUCKING TRAINS. FUCK FUCK. MOTHER FUCK.

Also, I received much clearer instructions in German when boarding the train than in this god foresaken hell box.

This is my first time on the train in the USA since riding in Europe. What a slum. Where does the gov subsidy go to on these sewers?

Not sure when the last time you drove to Seattle, but there's no way it takes less time to drive....especially during a holiday weekend.

Oh, and what trains have over planes? Cell usage and internet connectivity. Not to mention it's so much easier to jump on a train as opposed to all the airport security crapola.

I reported the pictures. I found them offensive.
