I thought the ton a penalties against Oregon at the begining of the game was a bit suspicious. Two penalties for 'leg whip?' I don't even know what that is and can't ever remember hearing that called in any game previosly. Anyway... given that the Pac 10 seems be courting some Big 12 teams, and the refs for the game just happened to be from Big 12... and would likely take a pay cut if the # of teams are reduced in the conference... I am not a big conspiracy guy... but I just thought it was 'interesting'.
I never heard of a Leg Whip either. But I can tell you that the 840 (it seems) other penalties Oregon was called for, were legit.
I've whipped a few women upside the head with my 3rd leg but I don't think that's what the Ducks were called for.
A "leg whip" is when the O-lineman goes to the ground and rolls whipping his leg around to trip the defensive player.
Rarely gets called. Yet, it was called twice in the first drive of the game. Oregon plays off momentum, that killed any they could of had on that first drive.
Coach Greatwood postgame on the leg whip calls..."I’ve been coaching it that way since I’ve been coaching the offensive line and never had it called. It’s just one officials interpretation." STOMP
