would be funny to see the reverse had LSU lost. But Meh.. as we all know.. rankings now dont matter, so no reason to get all up in arms about it :)

13th feels generous given the effort shown on national stage.

Disagree. If there were maybe 12 other teams with LSU's defense or close to it I would agree. But there arent.

The only point of Rankings IMO have to do with Bowl matchups on Neutral sites. I cant name 12 teams that I feel pretty certain are better than the Ducks on a neutral site.

Wheels is right. Rankings don't mean much anymore. They'll start meaning something when Alabama, LSU, etc lose a game.

IMHO they didn't reflect a top 15 team. We all know the potential is there and they are a top 10 team. We know this because we know the team. If I'm a voter and neutral - basing my vote on performance, not potential, 13th is generous.

If it had been any team other than LSU or another top five team, they wouldn't have been so generous.

fair enough.. we have to agree to disagree. I cant think of many teams non top 8 teams that would put 27 (20 if you wanna be picky) on one of the top Defenses in the NCAA while shooting themselves in the foot and losing 4 more chances to score.

We outgained them and take back 2 fumbles and we win with 400+ yards against the best defense in the nation. We didn't do all that bad.

I see your point, but disagree. We did better than you may think.

Understand. I took a lot of positives away from the game - really did, so we may agree more than we think. I believe we're a top 10 team. I just don't think we came across as one to voters watching the game. We imploded (turnovers, penalties) and couldn't get our running game or any long pass plays going. Surprised we didn't drop more, but believe we'll be a top 10 team as season end.

I started thinking about rankings right after the loss on Saturday, and what it would take for UO to get back in the NC picture. Of course it's too early to seriously consider this, but I couldn't help but think about Boise State. They got by (what looked like) an overrated Georgia team, and I don't think they will be tested again. The one game you thought you could circle for them was TCU. But after watching Baylor put up 50 points and about 600 yards on the Horned Frogs (not to mention the game was 47-23 Baylor in the 3rd quarter), I'm not holding my breath. Plus the game is in Boise. I think the Broncos run the table. So even if UO wins out (and frankly that's hard to imagine) it's not likely that we get back to the Natty this year. I've decided to put that out of my thought processes for now. I don't want to think of this season as Natty or Bust (like Darrin Thomas said). I'd be happy with another Pac-10 Title and a WIN in the Rose Bowl this year.

and thats why I dont put stock into the rankings and why I think its flawed. When I see a 13 on there, to me it should mean the 13th best team. Not just based on how someone did on an off week. I think we played better on Saturday (minus the Turnovers) than we did vs Auburn, so using that logic that voters do, we should have dropped even further after losing the Natty.

The country seems to think we got blown out (that's how ESPN phrases it). I don't agree that we got blown out. Not even close. The game was in doubt almost all the way until the fourth quarter. Hell, we had the lead in the third. I think we lost some guys to injuries, we made some mistakes that one would expect early in the season with a lot of new faces, and we were still in it. It sure as hell wasn't a blow out. Now we just need to bounce back, win the next game and go from there.

What is really sad about this... is imagine if #3 played #4 near the end of the season... after the loss the losing team would barely drop... if at all. Unfortunately by losing 1 game early... you are in a big hole.

To be honest I think Oregon is ranked too high at 13. LSU will be no better than 3rd in the SEC this year.
