Just because Dunleavy is on McGrady doesn't mean McGrady has to be on Dunleavy on the other end. That is just a stupid assumption.

Umm, didn't LeBron have a 50 point game, and triple double vs the Celtics in that OT game right before the all star break?
Having watched my favorite team, the Detroit Pistons, play both of these talented superstars in the playoffs, I have to go with Paul Pierce on this one. With exception to the 2003 and 2004 seasons, Pierce has always been an efficent scorer. He's more consistent than T-Mac. In my mind, this would be a closer comparison if not for McGrady's chronic back problems, a condition that has bothered him since his first year in Orlando. As he gets older, this condition is only going to worsen. No matter how much talent or how clutch a player is, if they are not on the court, that player is not worth it. Say what you want about Pierce, but he's missed exactly 8 games since the beginning of the 2000-01 season. Let's not forget this guy was stabbed outside a nightclub at the end of September 2001, and was back on the court for the start of the season, logging a career season to boot. McGrady, in that same timeframe, has missed 72 games.

Lebron did have a triple-double tho. And really, bringing up individual games is doing nothing.
He said check out the box scores, and I did. And Celtics only face the Rockets twice a year, and I brought them up. T-Mac outplayed Pierce this year in the season, despite having the back problems.
you can't say he outplayed him this season when Pierce played better AND he wasn't oft-injured thorughout the year. It's just biased to say that TMac had a better year.
When, T-Mac is completely healthy and at the top of his game, he is one of the elite players in the NBA. He can score big points, grab rebounds, and he is an above average playmaker. Paul Pierce loves to mainly score, not much more.

Same rbs, asts, stls. Only thing is Pierce %'s are better. I say this debate is basically a draw with the edge going to Pierce only because of health issues and having forced 2 trades in his career because he didn't like the situation.

He is one of the leading rebounders for a guard in the league, and has been doing that for almost his entire career. Pierce is just as good of a passer as McGrady, too.

He wanted to stay in orlando, but the GM wanted him out. He presented a trade where he would get a chance to play with yao, and accepted.

i cant find that boxscore myself, i think it might have been from the 2003-2004 season, as richard pryor would say "fuk it". someone close this thread

Umm, he still outplayed Pierce. Pierce had 19 points on 3-10 shooting, and 20 points on 5-13. T-Mac had 14pts on 5-10 shooting and 35 points on 14-20 shooting. T-Mac had 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the game he was fairly healthy, too.Back problems have plagued him for a long time, but he still played 78 games 2 seasons ago, around 70 the season before, and around 80 the season before. He was the best swingman in the league 2 seasons ago, and 4 seasons ago he was the best swingman. Pierce was declining for 3 straight seasons before this past season, so consistency really isn't an arguement here. And you can argue that's because he had to share the spotlight with Walker, but T-Mac still had better seasons in Orlando than pierce had last year.

So are we debating who was better two seasons ago? I'm confused now because I thought it was for this season, not the season before the season before 2 seasons ago where he played "around 80". Just saying what I think. Let's agree to disagree.
