De’Anthony Thomas doesn’t carry himself like one of the most decorated prep football players to ever come out of Los Angeles. He’s soft-spoken, polite, accommodating — hardly the first qualities that come to mind of an L.A. legend, a label bestowed on Thomas at a young age. Ask those closest to him, and they say the enormous hype doesn’t define De’Anthony Thomas. “Real humble kid. Very humble,” said Robert Garrett, Thomas’ coach at Crenshaw High School. “You never see him boast or brag or none of that flashy stuff. He’s real humble and grateful for the opportunity, and you don’t see that often with a kid with those (athletic) attributes.” The oldest of five brothers, the 18-year-old Thomas backed away from his long-standing commitment to USC to instead sign with Oregon. The true freshman running back had a bumpy yet promising introduction to college football in Oregon’s season-opening loss to LSU last Saturday. He lost two fumbles but also showed off the versatile skill set that had recruiting services rank him as the No. 1 athlete in the class of 2011. “I could tell the game speed was a lot faster, playing with bigger bodies,” said Thomas, 5-feet-9, 165 pounds. “But I adapted to it well.” Thomas has never been to Autzen Stadium on game day. His only recruiting trip to Oregon was a secret visit on the weekend of Jan. 29 earlier this year, the final chance for such a trip before national signing day the next week. He never got a chance to feel the full force of a fall Saturday inside a soldout Autzen. Teammates have told Thomas he’s in for something special on Saturday, when the 13th-ranked Ducks play their home opener against Nevada. “This will be my first game there,” he said, “and I can’t wait.” If Thomas’ collegiate debut was any indication, Duck fans could be in for a treat, too. 165lbs is so light for a running back. I'm worried about him getting injured. He is certainly a dynamic player though.
I noticed that too but thats his high school weight. He's already put on almost 10 lbs iirc since he got here in July.
He's built like Juan Dixon...... this fool is gonna snap in half coming across the middle when he gets drilled!
he's 175 pounds. For reference LaMichael weighed in at 180 when he was a freshman... 4 years later he's 195 STOMP
