<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>By Steve LuhmThe Salt Lake Tribune The Jazz and Golden State have reached an agreement in principle on a four-player trade that would bring veteran point guard Derek Fisher to Utah. The Salt Lake Tribune has learned - barring an unexpected hitch - the Jazz will send Devin Brown, Keith McLeod and Andre Owens to the Warriors in exchange for Fisher, a 10-year veteran who has been a member of three world championship teams. The deal will be completed after Owens signs a free-agent contract with the Jazz next week - a step that is necessary to make the trade adhere to NBA salary requirements. Free agents are not allowed to sign new contracts before July 12. Fisher, the 24th pick in the 1996 draft, spent his first eight years in the league in Los Angeles with the Lakers. Signed as a free agent by Golden State in 2004, Fisher played the last two seasons with the Warriors. Last year, he averaged 13.3 points and 4.3 assists while shooting 37.3 percent from Advertisementthe three-point line for a team that failed to reach the playoffs for the 12th straight year.</div>wow this is a steal by utah,im sure goldenstate did it to get some money because of fisher's big contract, sure utah is giving up mcleod and brown and owens but fisher is definetly an upgrade to any of those guys,my question is why?im guessing the jazz had to get rid of some guards after drafting dee brown and brewer they also have williams already,so my assesment its a good deal for the jazz but the warriors did get some more young talentmy bad double post

Nice move for both teams. Mullin admits he made a mistake in giving Fisher that big contract. He had a career year last year, but Monta Ellis was a huge suprise for them. The Warriors needed the cap space to resign Pietrus and free up some money. Brown and McLeod are both decent role players. McLeod is underrated. Brown will be a nice backup. Utah gets some needed experience at the point, and someone to tutor Williams. They also clean their roster up a bit.
Weird deal imo, I guess Fisher can come in as the vet pg of the three they have. Devin Brown wasn't going to get much time with the Jazz next year, so it was understandable he would be traded sooner or later.

Fisher quietly had a good season.
Nice pickup for the Jazz. Fisher is a good veteran and can help the Jazz out a bunch. The Warriors shoulda never let him go. :no1: BTW: There are already like 3 of these topic going around in the Jazz,Warriors etc. sections.
I have always loved Fisher. He's a good role player, very proffessional, and clutch as hell (i almost sh*t myself when I saw 0.4!). Great pickup for Utah, they get a nice combo guard who will provide veteran leadership. I like their backcourt rotation of Deron, Fisher, and Dee Brown. I hate Giricek, but he is an ok role player. Plus Harpring plays a little 2-guard.McLeod is actually much better than people think, but still not as good a Fisher. Devin Brown is a solid scorer off the bench and an underrated defender. Andre Ownens will either be waived or sent to the D-League. But even though Utah got the better deal, and the best player in the deal, it works out for them too because Monta Ellis is now their backup PG. He showed great promise in the 2nd half of the season and he is going to be a player. Now he can develope though playing time and learning from his own mistakes. So, it really works out for both teams, but I like it better for Utah because of the veteran leadership.
Fisher was my favorite player during the Lakers title runs. Kind of nice to see him go to play under Jerry Sloan (my favorite coach solely because he played at University of Evansville way back in the day).
i like this trade for utah, the jazz just drafted young point guard dee brown and they drafted brewer and have a young point guard in deron williams also.way i see it,fisher's experience will take affect on the other players and his leadership as well.he was a big spark off the bench for the warriors(including when davis was hurt) and the lakers when payton was with us,overall this trade helps utah more but golden state loosen off a large contract in D-fish and get some more young players to go on their roster
this is a pretty horrible deal for Golden State. They had a sufficient back-up in Fisher. They traded him away for some scrubs they won't even use, except for Brown, who will be there fourth wingman. just awful for GS.
I like this for the Jazz because they had the lowest scoring backcourt last season and this will help improve that along with Deron Williams in his sophmore year. The Jazz have always been close to getting into the playoffs, this could be a year that they shock the world and do it.
I actually thought this was a bad trade for both teams. Probably better for Utah, but GS loses a good backup to Davis (who is inury prone) and I don't see the Fisher fit in Utah.
Golden State probably wanted to get rid of Fisher to open up some minutes for Monta Ellis and while he did have a good year he tends to take alot of bad shots (hence the 39% field goal percentage) and he isn't much of a pass first guard. This isn't a blockbuster deal or anything of that sort but it will affect both teams decently, for better or worst.
This trade is amazing. Fisher is finally gone, if you guys still think this deal sucks for the W's, you didn't watch Fisher play last year and only looked at his stats. Monta Ellis is going t odo a lot better than Fisher and is a way better passer, shooter (except 3's) and smarter player.
