John, I truly am sorry for you and your family. Hopefully they get this thing sorted sooner rather than later for your sake.

Hey, thanks man! I didn't post that shit for people to feel sorry for me or anything, I was just kinda' venting! It isn't just me this is taking a toll on. I know some guys who are ushers at the games or security guards and this is huge for them as well. I think the little people like that are the ones that get forgotten about when this happens. It's weird cause I grew up a sports fan like all of you guys, I just happen to be lucky enough to get a job in the industry.

HCP at Taco Bell. That's rich.

Take a trot for the border!

Gimme one of those half-taco/half-burger thingies.

I hope he washes his hands more than once a week.

Until the owners start to fear that fans may walk away from the sport, they are under very little pressure to get a deal done. Meanwhile the players will really start to feel it when they don't get their bi-weekly checks starting this month (?).

Owners are holding all the cards right now and apparently are feeling very comfortable with a delayed season.

Not to give anyone false hope, but Chris Sheridan says "relax - they're posturing":

Nah, I didn't think you were fishing for sympathy, I just know how rough the job market is out there and I hate to see another person headed for the unemployment line.

These were my initial thoughts as well. Unless the players were prepared to give up a lot today you knew Stern was going to be..... stern. I just don't think they were prepared to drop their shorts quite yet.

Sleep Country always needs someone to wear a chicken suit and hold their signs. You would rock that shit!

Seriously though, good strategy in not listening to anything about the negotiations. I would play it just like the players in not getting contractually obligated if there is a season, but planning as if there is not going to be any NBA games this year.

Very true. The players will have to give on this point. The NBA cannot continue as is. It's either a hard cap or non guaranteed salaries. Take your pick.

I was watching Monday Night Football at ABM's and sat on the Futon. Dang, it's pretty well used. HCP must be gone a lot. BTW, on one end of it there are a couple of hand cuffs attached to it. Care to elaborate?

If I'm not mistaken, that is what the $1 was for that all of us in here pitched in to buy. With all of the people who donated, we were also able to get a nice popcorn maker and a Porche Boxter.

I agree and I would assume that the players would opt for the hard cap between those two. The owners need to compromise on the final cap number and also allow it to delayed a few years.

Of course, with a hard cap probably comes lower salaries.
