I agree that there is a strange mythology among Democrats that has been told over the campfire for years now - namely that Obama is a "compromiser". I don't buy it. The truth is that he tried to force feed major changes to the U.S. that were so radical he caused instant revulsion. He "compromised" (with Democrats, not Republicans) by backing off (and mostly buying off extra corrupt Dem pols) just enough to jam through whatever he could in the Dem controlled Congress. After his Dems were destroyed in the mid-term elections, he - as is supposed to happen in our system - lost nearly all of his political ability to push through any major programs. In a desperate attempt to push through more of his SAME POLICIES that got him a major FU from the voters, he is looking for ways he can peel off some Republicans. That is NOT compromise. Compromise is scaling back and/or rethinking your policies and programs. Where has Obama talked about reforming the failed before it started ObamaCare set of programs? Where has Obama talked about reforming the failed stimulus programs and trying other approaches to economic repair other than Keynesian massive deficit spending, bailing out government (mostly union) workers, private union workers, increased taxes, increased regulations, etc? (yes, he bailed on implementing a new, very expensive, air quality reg - I am talking about making things better for job growth from what they were - not realizing that stabbing yourself with a fork is probably a bad idea) Ha! I forgot that Unions opposed that new reg.
Which bill are we supposed to pass? The American Jobs Act Obama was waving around on Monday, or today's American Jobs Act that actually has a resolution number? http://blog.heritage.org/2011/09/14...ights-to-american-jobs-act-after-obama-delay/
Do you love Barack? Do you? Then...Pass...This...Bill! http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brief...u-love-me-youve-got-to-help-me-pass-this-bill Remember, it's all about him.
Democrats in Congress Balking at Obama’s Jobs Bill WASHINGTON — President Obama anticipated Republican resistance to his jobs program, but he is now meeting increasing pushback from his own party. Many Congressional Democrats, smarting from the fallout over the 2009 stimulus bill, say there is little chance they will be able to support the bill as a single entity, citing an array of elements they cannot abide. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/15/u...ongress-balking-at-obamas-jobs-bill.html?_r=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytCEuuW2_A
Jeez, that it some skanky-ass political manuvering. Show some damn respect. Don't be an ass. And taking corporate tax rate to zero is truly dumb fuck idea.
Is it? No Dem stepped forward to present the bill. So, why not trot out the ludicrous? To me, it's effectively equivalent to the garbage Obama tried to pass off as leadership.
So is waving a "bill" in front of cameras on Monday, and giving a speech about the "bill" last week, and screaming "Pass This Bill" 17 times in a joint session, when there is no bill, and when his own party won't even pass it if it ever materializes. Also, why is waiving corporate taxes for a year a bad idea? It makes more sense than having all of us fund union infrastructure projects yet again while raising corporate taxes, which was Barry's grand plan. Obama didn't respect Congress last week, and after last night's beatdown, Dems are going to run away from this loser as fast as they can.
Still a bit bewildered at MASBEE. Yes, Obama giving a speech where you say PASS THIS BILL 17 times in prime time in front of a joint session, then "introducing" the bill on Monday while waving it as a prop in front of cameras and a selected array of "workers" isn't political posturing, and still not having it submitted by a single Dem two days later isn't posturing again, is it? Whoever this GOP guy is that did this, I applaud him for showing how this was just a cheap political stunt from a President slowing fading from relevance. The Dems don't want this bill. The GOP doesn't want this bill. America doesn't want this bill. This is what happens when we put a guy with ZERO accomplishments, yet an inflated ego that borders on narcissism, in the White House.
Wow, just wow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoJK7PymvtA
PASS THIS BILL!! There still is no bill to pass, or even to score, at this point, but I suppose I'm just trivializing things. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/09/obama-makes-plea-to-pass-this-bill-100-plus-times/
Still bewildered since when, the last post when you repleid to him just 5 minutes before? Anyways, your last line sounds like a very objective non-bias analysis of Obama . . . I can see you are well balanced and rationale when it comes to this topic.
Taking the name that Obama wants used is snarky, smartass and low-class. It makes no difference what Obama is or how he acts. None of that excuses the behaviour of the Rep, who took the name of the bill to mock Obama, AND to introduce a proposal (no Corp Income Tax) that is stupid on its face and is politically impossible to boot. You do not elevate the tone, set an example for leadership, by excusing deplorable behavior with, "he started it", "or he did worse than me". I am critical of Obama. I think he is a failed President, among the worst ever. That doesn't mean that I don't think some of the Republicans are unhinged, and tolerate a slew of dunderheads among their ranks. If I was leader of the House, I would take that jackass into my office and reprimand and punish him. You lose the high groung when you jump in feet first into the muck. No need for it. It relfects more on that rep, than on Obama.
The effective rate the US Corps pay is very low, despite the stated rate being high. There is no evidence lowering further very low effective rates will do what is desired - add US jobs and increase confidence and thus spending and investments.
