Reigning league MVP Derrick Rose said he would strongly consider playing overseas should the NBA season be completely lost due to the lockout, although the Chicago Bulls point guard is hoping the season will eventually start regardless of how many games might be lost. "If it does (cancel the season), yes, I am taking into consideration that I might be going overseas but I don't know where," Rose said on Tuesday following a court renovation and clinic at Murray Park Playground in Englewood, where he grew up playing basketball. "There's a lot of great places overseas but I haven't really gotten time to get details on every place." The Chicago Tribune reported on Tuesday that two sources close to Rose have confirmed that he has at least one offer in hand from an overseas team and discussions with several others. Rose's agent, former Bulls guard B.J. Armstrong, was at Tuesday's event and said that his clients are standing pat on signing overseas deals until it's determined whether there will or will not be an NBA season. If there is no season he should do it. I'm usually someone who abhors summer pick up games and other things that might lead to to the detriment of a player in the league through injury but management is just plain out of line and a man has a right to make a living.
On the other hand, I do have to say, just like the shiggity in Washington, I believe that when push comes to shove a deal will be done.
The $billionaires are squabbling with the $millionaires. It's hard to empathize with any of them. I don't have high hopes for a season, barring some breakthrough in the negotiations very soon. The last I read, even if they agreed today, it would rake a month to get the paperwork done. And nothing is DONE until the ink dries on the paper. Remember what losing a season did for the NHL? Both sides are killing the golden goose.
