Pnbuker Paul Buker RT @OkanesonCal: Tedford on faking injuries last ssn against Oregon: "We took responsibility for it last year. It's done. We're moving on"
We took responsibility for it last year Recapping what actually happened, post game he said that they hadn't faked injuries. Then days later after the nation was laughing as one at Cal he said they had done it, but blamed his assistant coach and said he had no knowledge/involvement. I attended that game and watched as the fakers shook off their limps and started high fiving teammates as soon as they got to the sidelines. I watched one of them giving teammates flying chest bumps following a big play for Cal just a couple snaps after being helped off the field. Whats more shameful? Faking injuries or Tedford's denial that he was aware and trying to toss assistant coaches under the bus? I'm sure Jeff wants to move on, but I'm also sure that those plays will be rehashed plenty in the upcoming week and replayed during this upcoming national broadcast. You made your bed little man... 'stompers, thanks for the first hand account. good stuff. had always suspected that was the case but tv limits ones exposure to what the broadcast shows. shortly after that i wrote a letter (none of this email crap that can be deleted w/ a push of a button - you actually have to physically handle a paper letter) to the cal ad, pac10 and the ncaa and invited them to view the video "the flops". what happen that night, happen many nights but was never as blatant. it stood in direct opposition to the entire philosophy of the ncaa, pac10 and ethical sportsmanship. tedford is a slime for lying about it and i hope we embarrass them again.
so Tedford lied about Cal not faking injuries, lied about not knowing about it (his assistants did it all... riiiight), & lied about taking responsibility for it. Reading the relayed quote it doesn't seem he's saying that they won't do it again... but really, whats his word worth? I'll be making my yearly pilgrimage north for this game... October nights in Oregon is often football perfection. I hope that if any Cal players go down with injuries that no one boos them... maybe some loud murmuring would be appropriate but booing a potentially injured player is classless. I'll be lending a full throat heckle if the same player is sprinting out a play or two later though STOMP
Humorous read regarding the flops and Tedford. Not saying I agree 100%... http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...t-coast-bias-tedfords-cheating-goes-unnoticed
I don't know what to think of him. I liked him a lot when he was with UO. How mini camps for girl friends/wives/mothers to allow them to understand football better I hear a a real hoot... so there's a lot to like. But his teams are solid under performers and this incident makes me wonder whether he should be a head coach.
