I read the article (this time). On the one hand, who would want to be on The Bald Face Lie? Canzano makes things up, lies, speculates and just won't let go when he's being an ass. Also, coaches work far more than full time hours, so it's understandable why they want to pass on such events and concentrate on building and maintaining a successful program. On the other hand, many of these people are boosters who support the program. So who from the program will show them a little love if not the coaches? Busy or not, I think the coaches should do a bit more.
I truly rather the coaches stay away from the petty vipers at the O... they are only looking to stir shit up. I barely care about interviews and can understand why coaches would rather not do them. Kelly won't do the Canzano show lol, gee I wonder why not? Obviously they aren't needing to grovel for fan support as the team has been selling out Autzen for around a decade... only school in the Pac 10/12 that can make anything close to that claim. I fully support them focusing on the team and preparation rather then the peripheral PR BS, especially while the season is happening. STOMP
Ken Doe is such a little whiner these days towards Oregon. Wasn't long ago he was crying in public about getting shut out and having to walk across a field to the coaches area and that Chip left before he got there. Note to Cry-baby-Kenny...Chip doesn't owe you anything. You don't sign his check. This is Kelly's show now. He's not Bellotti and he's not Brooks. And, while 1% of boosters may long for the old days of getting some face time with a coach so they can brag to their friends, I don't know of any who would trade Kelly's on field success for the "old ways". Kelly's record speaks for itself and he's doing what he's paid to do -- win on the field and recruit dynamic players. I used to respect Doe as a writer but he's increasingly becoming like the little kid on the playground who doesn't fit in with the popular kids who are playing a game, so he tells his teacher that no one will play with him. Even the article is a stretch because that "roadblock" has been respected by the fans and its the media who is crying about it.
Here's proof of what a limp-wrist Doe is. Here's a recent article where he writes positives about the changes and expresses his understanding for closed practice: http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2011/08/oregon_ducks_rundown_some_thou.html He's really insignificant to the program as Moseley has three times the number of twitter followers and useful info and you don't find guys like Rob, Marty from Educk (writing on all things Duck athletics for over ten years) or Steve crying over the minor changes and growth of the program.
First there is nothing wrong with Ken Goe writing about this and for tlong posting it. Second, Oregon has hired outside council to look into and represent them in the NCAA Lyles investigation. I'm sure the first thing the lawyers did was to make sure no further damage is done. That means shutting down access and shutting up Chip.
What?? What the heck does your response have to do with the thread? Kudos to tlong for posting. It's good discussion. No one said anything different. Doe is a crybaby. He's not important to the program so where two months ago he understood the changes (which began when Chip arrived over three years ago and continued to evolve - with major changes taking place LAST year before the Lyles fiasco), now he's crying. Obviously he's struggling to find material to write about. Oregon is not a mom-n-pop program anymore. They have an evolving and unique playbook to protect. So if Doe longs for the "old days" when the program wasn't as popular and was more open, he can always go up the road to good old Corvallis.
That kid is older than you- so show some respect for your elders. Besides, just because someone dares to disagree with you doesn't mean they act like a little girl. That's a statement a little girl would make. As to Sly, his therapist insists he's no harm to himself, so we just keep a close eye on him.
You sure you're older than me? 40's?? Disagreeing is GREAT and you've probably noticed I embrace it and encourage it. Responding after linked articles that have injury, stats and game info - on game eve - by asking what the point is, is, well, imho, girly, girly boy.
