Dave Corzine The newest addition for the 2011 D-Club Golf Outing will be the adoption of the DePaul Blue Demons Care Community Service Program as the event’s beneficiary. Blue Demons Care is coordinated by Assistant to the Athletics Director for Community Outreach and ex-DePaul basketball All-American Dave Corzine. Blue Demons Care impacts countless people through the efforts of DePaul’s student-athletes. Chief among these programs are Field Trip Days. DePaul Athletics annually welcomes thousands of students from Chicago and the surrounding area to attend Field Trip Days. Students are provided with bus transportation, t-shirts and tickets for the game. The students have created a tremendous home-field advantage for the Blue Demons in women’s basketball, soccer and softball. Additionally, countless schools throughout the Chicagoland area have invited DePaul student-athletes to participate as guest readers. Blue Demons Care incentivizes reading and literacy by offering a comprehensive reading program by which elementary school students may earn complimentary tickets, classroom pennants and other DePaul athletics prizes. “Field Trip Day and our reading program are just two of our many community service efforts,” said Corzine. “Our student-athletes devote thousands of hours to many worthy causes including Misericordia Candy Days, Vincentian Service Days and programming like Day with the Demons and the Academic Excel Program.”
I saw him frequently near DePaul when I played hoops at the school yard nearby. He drove a teeny car and his girlfriend was about 4' tall.
