So, should I be concerned about potential riff-raff showing up at the house, etc., considering my landlord is in the process of setting up a medical marijuana growing operation in the shop/garage behind the basement apartment? I've heard that the state is doling out growing licenses left and right these days, though.
Nope. He lives in Vancouver, has 4 small children. I pay the water bill for the household (a couple and their small child live upstairs), so you can bet I'll be keeping my eye on the bill as time rolls on. The funny thing about this is that he's told us that he's got an auto detailing operation going on in there. He's highly (no pun intended) secretive about coming in and out. He has a hose from the house going under the garage door, but has the place pretty much secured. Heh, he told me that the reason he needed the hose is because he has a washer/dryer in the garage for washing shop rags. * He transferred his home mail to the house for a few weeks. Most likely for getting the growing license. * He's had a few packages from Hydro World show up at the place * He installed a mini-split air conditioning unit in the garage. * He shows up every other day, or so, turns on the hose, then slinks into the garage If it looks like a duck, smells like a duck....
I'm not familiar with Washington laws, can you even grow pot in that state? If I were you I would get the water bill out of your name. You could have some liability of things aren't legal.
The pot is being grown at my place......in Milwaukie. Absolutely, I've asked him to raise my rent a bit and take the water bill out of my name. That process is still being discussed.
Medical marijuana grows are fairly frequently targeted by home invasion robbers in Eugene/Springfield. It's not that unusual for shots to be fired in these burgularies. You probably don't run much of a risk if you are not going to try to keep people out of the grow area. If you think you could be at risk....I would stop talking about it. Even if you tell someone you trust about the grow, they might chat it up with someone else, and the next thing you know there are guys with guns behind your house. FWIW, I know a gal with the OMMA card, and the grow does not use a lot of water. At least not compared to say... a lawn or veggie garden. I don't see what liability could come from that, but maybe I'm missing something. Just my two cents. Go Blazers
Don't you already live right up the street from that government housing on 32nd? I'd be more worried about the methheads living there than a few sick people picking up prescriptions. They're no different than the patients picking up prescriptions across the street at Providence Hospital.
I laughed when his mail started showing up, replete with the yellow forwarding stickers. Apparently, he needed to show that he lived here in order to get his growing license. I actually e-mailed the medical marijuana powers-that-be to see if I could verify that, indeed, marijuana was being grown here. They balked and informed me that it is private information - only available to various authorities.
