Stern continues to say the owners would have gone for a 50-50 split. Silver reiterates system issues are still big
Stern asked by NY Times if owners willing to blow up season to get 100 pct of what they want. Stern says, "We have a reset here."
Stern cites the declining stock market in answering Times' question, says owners take "all the risk."
"The owners are taking all the risk and they've guaranteed the players current contracts would not be impacted," Stern said.
sheridanhoops: Stern said deal must be made by Monday in order to avoid cancellation of first 2 weeks of the season. So now we know when the 11th hour is.
Stern: Playing in Italy is Kobe's right. "We wish him well." Says it won't have any impact on negotiations.
Stern "surprised" by players not being interested in 50-50 BRI. "We thought it made a lot of sense. Maybe too much," Stern said.
Adam Silver says he believes they could have found a common ground. Wishes they would have kept talking this week.
Owners are willing to do 50/50 split. Stern made that clear. Players are at 53 pct. Monday is the deadline to save the start of the season.
ChrisMannixSI....... Analysis: Owners came out looking pretty good. Made a lot of concessions, came up to 50-50.
So when the owners offer 50% using the old definition of BRI, players know the owner offer is really 4 points less (52 minus 48), that is, 46%, if they use the new definition? Most of the media don't understand such accounting tricks but apparently some players do. It sounds like Hunter and Fisher are co-opting the dumber half of the players. I'll look for today's Sam Amick article, hoping he talks about it.
good looking out by this guy! deandrejordan......... I also want to say sorry to all the people who work in the arenas that don't have any means of income right now...
