Portland police investigating possible sexual assault during Occupy Portland rally http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2011/10/portland_police_investigating_15.html
There's a possible sexual assault... but no victim has come forward? I don't see how that adds up. Ed O.
I read that some of the protesters around the country are being paid by the unions to do this. On the other hand, I am sure most are not. As to the protest itself, so long as they don't loot & pillage, I'm all for it. It's time to get riled up over a LOT of things and people need to make it known they will no longer accept the status quo.
First of all, what does a catholic look like? I know several dozen of them and I can't think of a discerning common feature. Second, I see the same faces that stopped a war and unseated a criminal president in the 60's/70's. If minorities are largely apathetic or lack the backbone to stand up for themselves, shame on them.
Pretty sure there aren't a lot of non-whites in Portland. If Portland has a protest, it is going to look white. Doesn't mean much. barfo
Portland was about 80% white in 2010 according to the census. And yeah, Maris, minorities lack backbone to stand up for themselves. That's it. Good call there.
I dont get any of this shit and how its going to change anything....Seems like its just another reason for lazy ass people who have never applied themselves to rally. Sure the economy's fucked up, but this isnt going to do anything. Oh, and I'm about as liberal as it gets, for the record.
http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/2011/10/occupy-wall-street-more-lefts-familiar-flapdoodle There is no indication in the charter how such figures were calculated, but perhaps a help wanted ad that appeared this week on Craigslist provides a clue. The ad was placed by the Working Families Party, the far-left outfit that fields candidates in local New York elections and is actively involved in staging and promoting the OWS movement. Job-seekers are assured the WFP offers training in "advocacy, public speaking, mobilizing, fundraising, networking and organizing," not to advance "a policy position" but in the service of "direct action." Besides the training and a "full benefits package," those hired will be paid between $350 and $650 per week, according to the ad.
Sounds like your kind of fun. You should go! http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/10...er-4th-week-anonymous-threatens-nyse-website/ But for some business owners, there’s nothing but outrage. They say the city’s stance on the protest means there is no end in sight to what has rapidly become a living nightmare, reports Brown. “They want to take showers, want to wash up and use the toilet paper to dry up. It becomes … you gotta have one person assigned just to clean the bathrooms,” said Steve Zamfotis, manager of “Charley’s” restaurant.
I think it's great. This is how things get changed. When politicians on both sides understand they people are refusing to accept politics as usual, we will start seeing the left & right working more together, finding new solutions rather than the same old mistakes..... I say go for it! Just be civil.
If minorities lacked the backbone to stand up for themselves the NBA wouldn't be locked out right now.
