Very little info out yet but tests to be done tomorrow. He was able to walk and jog and had asked to play but sat. He was on sidelines with brace - and not on crutches. Jay Allen reported/tweeted it as "pretty sore."

Be wild if that LMJ injury that looked potentially career ending leads to a missed game or two and a simple player landing on Thomas' leg and doesn't even look that bad ends up to be more.

I'd like to formally put in my vote that if Thomas is able to return soon, he not rush anymore. :sigh:

While all but one of us is hoping for the best for Darron, next week is vs the lowly Buffs. It might be the perfect time for BB to get a game under his belt before the schedule ramps up again.

I like what Bennett brings to the table, and it would be interesting to see how he handles a full game, but can we afford to gamble? Even one loss and there's a good chance we don't win the PAC 12.

They can't afford to lose this game to Colorado, you're right. But have you seen Colorado play? Bennett would have to throw about 2-3 "pick 6's" for this game to be close. Colorado is straight up terrible. I watched part of that game yesterday against UW, and it looked like Portland State could play with those guys. If Thomas is anything less than 90% next week, I say go with Bennett. I like the idea of getting the kid more snaps. We haven't seen him throw the ball much, but every scouting report you find on the him says he's got a strong/accurate arm. I would like to see what he can do for 48 minutes in a game that he almost can't lose. ("Almost", as in once every 5-10 years a 30 or 40 point favorite loses - see Stanford vs USC 2007)

Until I see Bennett show me that he can consistently move the offense through the air, I'm going to be worried, even against the Buffs. Bennett looked good running the read option but when it came to airing it out he looked terrible.

Terrible? Come on, shaky maybe, but not terrible.

could be. But also if we lose one conference game I would rather it be against someone other than Stanford. We could have the same amount of losses in Conference but if its not against Stanford we would have the tie breaker. So (1 loss only) to any school other than Stanford and we still could potentially (probably) hold our destiny in our own hands to get the the Conference Champ game. Does that make sense at all or am I rambling?

He didn't throw it much at all. He had one really shaky throw and I think one good one... that was about it. Seemed like 90% of the plays were runs.

Careful Kaydow. Don't dare ask MB if he's seen Colorado play....he might accuse you of being all knowing about Buff football and tell you have insulted he is that you asked a question regarding HIS personal football experience this season.

Yes, terrible. He skipped a pass off the turf to a wide open Barner, and it was only a 5 yard out route. I don't care that he didn't have any reps, every QB should be able to hit that pass. He also had the near interception in the endzone on the one attempted for Huff, and if not for Hoffman coming back to the ball on that other one that might have been picked too.

Call it what you want, shaky, terrible, he didn't look good throwing the ball. Now hopefully Thomas' injury isn't that bad, because I don't think we could beat Stanford or Washington without him.

Yah. Terrible. I can't believe a FR could come into the game and look so terrible and shaky. I mean, it's not like this was the biggest game he's ever seen and we put him against one of the best conference defenses while trailing or anything. What a waste he was, going 2/5 and not throwing any picks. I mean, there were three INT's thrown in the game and he almost accounting for a fourth and he ONLY ran 5 times for 65 yards and made some good zone reads.

    What a chump....the season is lost. :)

He can pass fine. He also throws well on the run. It's only 1/2 step down when he's in.

I said in a previous post Targus, that until he shows consistency throwing the ball, I would be worried. You are once again great at stating the obvious. My concerns are valid. Do you want an untested freshman going against Stanford? I would hope not.

I'll state that I'd be ecstatic if Bennett does turn out to be great, even though that should already be implied.

Show me the evidence. I've heard about how he's looked in practice yada yada yada. We've heard that before, when I see results I'll believe it. From what I've seen in the Nevada game and this one, he has legitimate accuracy problems.

I'd just prefer Thomas in as I feel there is no way we could win the Pac-12 with Bennett in. Just my opinion.

Your concerns are shared and obvious. He's a FR and will need time, clearly. You have your opinion, I have mine. I think it's foolish to say he looked "terrible" while airing it out. He hit 40% of his passes for 22 yards and didn't throw a pick. Terrible would have been throwing a pick or failing to find any open receivers. To me, "terrible" would be losing poise, happy feet, panicked and being trigger shy - none of which fit. Yes, he missed a read and skipped a short route.

He's looked more steady to me than a lot of great Oregon QB's in their first appearances. He'll get more comfortable with time and show that arm strength he demonstrated in practice, spring game and HS. The kid is amazing.

A 50% completion ratio puts him alongside guys like Brehaut, Wynn, Maynard and others.

Nice to see you yada yada others opinions and educated reports from practice and the spring game. Personally, I share come of your concern but am optimistic on what the kid can do. Also, didn't see anything "terrible" Sat night.

Why is it foolish? Terrible was correctly used there, it's a fact that his passes were errant. I think it's foolish to even bring up completion percentage as he only threw 5 passes but just so you know 40 percent is not considered "good."

How you choose to define terrible is relevant how? Does it matter to you that much that I used the word terrible?

So do you think Bennett's passing was good? Or at least bad? Admit that much. I already pointed out how close those passes were to being picked off. To put it more pointedly they were lucky they didn't get picked off and not only that, but they were also lucky the refs called that fumble dead too soon. Yes, he was super poised in handing off to Barner.

LOL and your point is? Those guys are terrible. I now have tremendous faith in Bennett because he's just like Maynard, Wynn, and Brehaut.

You mean the Fall game because there are nothing but reports on how Bennett struggled in the Spring game. Here's a boxscore http://www.goducks.com/downloads2/4...1&SPSID=3383&SPID=233&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=500

Yes, 10-18 for 98 yards and an INT while failing to score is impressive. Not only that but there were reports that Mariota was pushing Bryan Bennett for the #2 spot. I take local puff pieces with a grain of salt. Show me results, that's what matters to me.

Again, I really don't care how you use or define terrible. You seem to take offense on how I used it though. I've only brought up how "bad" Bennett has looked to me, because I seem to be the only one worried about Thomas going down, and not praising Bennett for not buckling under the pressure.

Well, I respect your opinion. I just disagree. I've seen every snap he's played and think he has a fine arm. The only concern I have is can he make good 'hot' reads and not lock in on a receiver as most young QB's do. Also, if he does have to play, I'd rather it be a Colorado or WSU so he can relax against inferior teams.

Just my opinion, but I think you'll be impressed if he plays a full game.

It's cute how concerned you are that I offer an opposing opinion (using stats, multi-player and team comp, analysis from sports reporters, etc.) And how concerned you are I disagree with the description that Bennetts arm has been terrible.

Chip has praised Bennetts play. Team mates have praised his play. The media has praised his play -- all making comments about his arm too. You're the only one I know saying his arm has been terrible, so don't be so sensitive if other fans call you on it. You say you don't care about practice reports and spring games, then you reference them. It's cute.

The results you demand were in a FR QB coming into his first significant game and leading his team from behind. Watch the game and you'll see ASU adjust more to a run stop defense, then adjust back when Bennett actually did throw.
