What do you think? Fair? I guess the 33% computer weight isn't as favorable to Oregon as the 66% from voters. Feels about right. Stanford hurdle to come. What do you think would happen in the unlikely event that Oregon beats Stanford, Stanford wins out, then Oregon loses to ASU in the Pac12 Champ game? Then you have a two lose Oregon team and a one loss Stanford team....who goes to Pasaden?
No big surprises. Fair or not, the SEC is greatly favored (top 2 spots and Arkansas at #9). I think BSU is way too high given their schedule and I'd have Wisconsin 4th. I also thought KSU might be higher than Oregon. Now, after saying how the SEC is favored, I think South Carolina should be low as they have proven to be a fairly weak team. Finally, as to Oregon being #10, I suppose that's about right for now. If we beat Stanford and remain undefeated for the remainder of the year, we'll make the Rose Bowl and I'm thinking Wisconsin will be playing in the title game (Alabama v. Wisconsin) so I hope we play BSU.
I'd prob swap BSU with Wisconsin. I'm not sure Ok St deserves to be as high as they are...the Cowboys really only have one impressive victory (unless you call 70 points on K impressive, lol). Boise did beat Georgia - who is now 4-1 in SEC. I'm also guessing Clemson will drop soon, but I love the heart of that team.
At this point I don't have much hope that we are going to the NC so ultimately I don't really care as long as we go to a BCS game and play well. I just want to see the guys play well keep winning.
It's hard to come up with a realistic way we return to the NC game. We will always be ranked below a 1 loss SEC team- and there will be at least one SEC team with 0 or 1 loss this year. BSU, with their schedule of tomato cans will be undefeated. Oklahoma or Oklahoma State will either be undefeated or be a 1 loss team ranked ahead of us. Wisconsin should win out, although I'm not too sure if they were a 1 loss team if they'd be ahead of us now that we have a conference title game. No, I am convinced the best we're going to do is 1 loss and a trip to Pasadena. But I'm fine with that. Winning the conference and going to the Rose Bowl is a hell of a season.
Yes it is. It sure is amazing how our one loss is to the #1 team in the land and we're ranked 10th. It's not like we lost to Montana St or something. I still think we'll be able to climb into the top five before the season is over. As long as we beat Standford, get past the PAC 12 championship and win a bowl, I will be happy.
In light of the fact we just beat a top 20 team, I agree. However, the BCS rankings are based on SEC teams first, wins/losses next and all else afterwards. With one loss, we're always going to be behind nearly all the undefeated teams.
Yeah... but there's still a lot of football left to play. LSU or Alabama will have a loss. Stanford or Oregon will have a loss. I think we still have a good chance of getting into the top 5, but sometimes the SEC bias really pisses me off.
if lsu wins out, and everyone else loses a game, we will be #2 at the end, even if boise goes undefeated as past seasons have shown, bsu will drop significantly in the computer rankings as the season progresses
I bet we don't. I'm willing to bet that even if we only lose one game, and Alabama or Oklahoma only lose one game, they will finish ahead of us.
I doubt Wisconsin will lose a game. This upcoming week is their best chance to lose, and I don't know if MSU has the fire power to score with Wisconsin.
If they hadn't won the last 5 national championships, it might piss me off too. But the simple fact is, the SEC champion is the national champion more often than not. Until someone knocks them off the pedestal, they deserve the bias.
Honestly, they would really suck if they didn't have this kind of success with the recruits they've been pulling.
I don't see us getting above #3 or #4 if LSU and Oregon wins out and all undefeated teams drop a game. If BSU wins out, they should be above Oregon. We control our own destiny as far as getting back to Pasadena. I still have to pinch myself when I say something like that....decades of just hoping for ANY bowl and now we're a national team. Crazy.
To me, they're the most interesting team. They play several good teams, but no great teams. What a perfect way to go undefeated and maybe the NC game.
Is it bad that I'm secretly hoping for both Wisconsin & Stanford to go undefeated and meet in the Rose Bowl in an all-snub match-up?
