Not a chance in hell. Hated the Sonics, hate the Huskies, and that hatred carries right on over to the Seahawks and Mariners. Now that the Seahawks have moved into the NFC West, I have even more of a reason to hate them. Fuck Seattle.

Yet they view themselves as more comparable to San Francisco.

Yeah, they're SF without the culture, history, and diversity.

Hating/stereotyping a city seems ridiculous to me... especially considering how much Portland and Seattle have in common.

I don't hate Seattle at all, and I go there quite often for work and to visit my brother and his family. Hell, I'm from there originally.

Well there you go... that's the reason why we butt heads so much. You're from Seattle and I'm from Portland.

I thought our headbutting days were behind us! I've lost my fastball during the lock-out. :(

reading this, one might guess that you're from Washington. The Bay Area has more people then the entire state of Washington. Quite a bit more wealth as well.

Looking forward to the Fuskies annual fall curb stomp

San Fran or even San Diego are definitely above Seattle, but hey... they've got Starbucks!

I imagine you'll be rooting for the Cardinal when they play the Ducks?

Rivalry? Since 2004, the Ducks have won every time by an average score of 44-17. The CLOSEST game they've had in that span is a 34-14 (20 Point) Ducks win in 2006. It's a total reverse of fortune. Up until '94, Duck Fans felt the way about the Huskies that the Huskies now feel about the Ducks. It was a hatred built out of jealousy. They were the big, bad Huskies, and they were just a better team/program year in & year out. Since 1994 the Ducks have won 12/16 in the Series. In 2003, it looked like this was becoming a legitimate rivalry. The Ducks had won 5 out of 9 from 1994-2003. But the absolute drubbings that The Ducks have put down since 2004 have put to bed any notion that this is a serious rivalry.

That said, the Huskie's recent success does stir up the rivalry pot (a little). However, it's going to take several seasons and a couple of losses to UW before it feels like a rivalry again.

Tokyo has more people than everyone, but just about as many people there that care about Cal and Stanford. I was born in Portland, and have lived there, in the Bay Area and Seattle. Until Andrew Luck came around, Stanford attendance figures were lower than Pullman's. (Afterward isn't much better) What are their College FB and BB attendance figures and ratings? There's a reason that the Pac-12 tournament didn't mention the Bay Area when talking about potential sites.
Again, I don't have a rooting interest in either. But to say that the Bay Area or SD is a bigger college sports market than Seattle is absurd. Hell, the commuters from Portland to Eugene 6 Saturdays a year are a bigger deal than any Bay Area college sports.

HAHAHA, I just had one memory jar in this melon. I can't recall what year, but Ed O. and I took in a Ducks/Husky game at H Stadium. We had seats in the UW side and fans were actually not too bad. My favorite and worst part of the night was when a somewhat overweight Husky fan who was a few rows stood up and had feces all over his pants and up his back. No joke. Husky fans have bad bowl control. UCK!
