13 hours would be mind-numbing! Btw, I fully expect the same result as the last two meetings. 'Tis a revolving door.
You told me my opinion was "incorrect", yet you seem to validate my point in this post. I agree that the players can play elsewhere. What I disagree with you is how effective it is to have superstars and foreign players take contracts in lesser leagues, while the majority of players don't have that option. If I'm an Eliot Williams missing a mortgage payment, and I see Kobe Bryant getting $2 million for one game in Italy, I'm going to wonder how strong my union really is in terms of solidarity. The fact that it is a "star's league" is exactly my point. The stars seem to be looking out for themselves at this point, which means the union is a joke.
sam_amick......... I asked a person with knowledge of the mediation session if the lengthy meeting was a sign of progress: "Not really"
hollinger........ If lockout isn't settled in 14th hour of mediation, they'll have two overtimes and then it goes to penalty kicks.
Woj.......... Shouldn't be surprising, but two league sources briefed on meeting say luxury tax on the cap remains the biggest hurdle in talks tonight.
