I watched that whole video, and I saw not only no evidence that data was rigged, but not even any accusation that it was. The topic seemed to be whether Jones was willing to share the data, not the validity of the data itself.

What data? Have you seen it? Can you hire an expert, if you choose, to verify it's valid?

Sorry, but that's not evidence the data is rigged. You can't examine my checkbook, but that doesn't mean I've falsified the entries therein.

And in fact, one could regather all the data from the original sources. What Jones was not willing to do is hand over the data that he'd painstakingly assembled from numerous sources. There's no evidence that another researcher couldn't go to those sources and request the data in the same way Jones did.

If you want global warming data to analyze, here's a good source. They say they have 1.6 billion temperature measurements, and all their programs are available too. So go ahead and download it Denny, and tell us what you find.

Here's a news story from today about it...

Maybe Denny would like to argue that the world is flat.

The evidence refuting a globe-shaped Earth is every bit as compelling as the evidence refuting man-accelerated global warming.

Wasn't it the consensus that the world was flat?

The few with the minority view were the ones who were right.

    Great example, Maris!

Sometimes minority views are right, sometimes they are wrong.

No comment on the BEST study, Denny? Just another part of that doggone conspiracy?

No comment on the fact that it backs up the work of the 'rigged' studies you've been complaining about?

No comment on the fact that it debunks some of the objections that you skeptics/deniers have been going on and on about?

No comment on the fact that all the data and programs are available for your examination?

Have you no comment, sir? At long last, have you left no comment?

    I thought so.

Up until recently (historically speaking) global warming was very much the minority view.

As with the flat world concept, education finally convinced all but those who refused to examine the body of evidence.

    Fox guarding the hen house.

The emails released specifically showed the scientists were manipulating the data to get results they wanted.

The Antarctic sea ice extent has been at or near record extent in the past few summers, the Arctic has rebounded in recent years since the low point in 2007, polar bears are thriving, sea level is not showing acceleration and is actually dropping, Cholera and Malaria are failing to follow global warming predictions, Mount Kilimanjaro melt fears are being made a mockery by gains in snow cover, global temperatures have been holding steady for a decade or more, deaths due to extreme weather are radically declining, global tropical cyclone activity is near historic lows, the frequency of major U.S. hurricanes has declined, the oceans are missing their predicted heat content, big tornados have dramatically declined since the 1970s, droughts are not historically unusual nor caused by mankind, there is no evidence we are currently having unusual weather, scandals continue to rock the climate fear movement, the UN IPCC has been exposed as being a hotbed of environmental activists and scientists continue to dissent at a rapid pace.

    Comments, barfo?

"As CA readers also know, until recently, CRU staunchly refused to provide the measurement data used in Briffa’s Yamal reconstruction. Science(mag) acquiesced in this refusal in connection with Osborn and Briffa 2006. While the Yamal chronology was used in a Science article, it originated with Briffa 2000 and Science(mag) took the position that the previous journal (which had a different data policy) had jurisdiction. Briffa used the chronology Briffa et al (Phil Trans B, 2008) and the Phil Trans editors finally seized the nettle, requiring Briffa to archive the data. As noted before, Briffa asked for an extension and, when I checked earlier this year, the Yamal measurement data remained unarchived. A few days ago, I noticed that the Yamal data was finally placed online. With the information finally available, this analysis has only taken a few days."
