<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>A source tells us that Williams is expected to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers tomorrow. Apparently, Williams was supposed to sign with the New Jersey Nets last week, but on draft night, while aboard the Nets private jet, he had the misfortune of watching Connecticut?s Marcus Williams ? arguably the highest-rated point guard in the draft ? slide all the way down to 22, where New Jersey snatched him to back up Jason Kidd.</div>From Hoopshype.Got our PG, good pickup. :happy0144:
Yes! All I wanted was for him to get on a team. I love Jay Williams and he was easily my favorite young guard ever since his days at Duke. He may not be as explosive as he once was, but he is level-headed, pretty good decision maker, and he can hit the open jumper. I'm very happy for Jay-Will and I wish him well.
Yeah very good signing by Philly if this really does go through. We now have gotten our defensive player in Jones, our athletic swingman in Carney and now a backup pg we needed badly. Now we just have to get rid of that logjam at the wing positions.

This is a great pick up, I'm a big Jay fan too. It's a good situation to come into as well, there won't necesarily be any pressure.

Honestly, who didn't see this coming? Billy King is a Duke alumni, and he rarely passes up a chance at picking up another Duke player.I'm happy for Jay Williams, but I'm really questioning this move right now. Does this signing mean there is a trade in the works? We don't need four point guards on the roster. If Iverson is gone, this makes sense, but if Iverson stays it doesn't make much sense in my mind. Jay Williams is NBA ready, but it'll take time for him to get back in the groove of things and we still do not know exactly what kind of player he will be after the crash. Then we have Louis Williams, who is supposed to be our point guard of the future... well, where does Jay's signing put him?A questionable move in my mind, but I think it will start making more sense as the offseason progresses.

Also Louis Williams is still so young and no one knows if he will progress into a good player. Saying this getting another PG is a pretty good idea to me especially since he's NBA ready.
I haven't seen any official news of this yet, but for the Sixers sake I hope it is true. Williams should have an easier transition back into the NBA alongside Allen Iverson, granted he stays in Philly. He has some pretty nice options to dish the ball to in Korver, A.I. and Chris Webber. Good selection team wise by Jay.
I have heard nothing lately. But I just hope Jay finds a nice situation, and Philly is definitely a good one.
With or without Iverson this is a good situation for Jay Williams, however we'll just have to wait and see when they officially pick him up.As for Ollie, I don't know what is going on with him. If we trade Iverson, I think we might hold onto Ollie just to help mentor the young point guards we have (Louis Williams and Jay Williams just for a little bit), and then get rid of him, or we might just hand the keys over to the young PGs... it'll be interesting to see what happens.
Personally, I dont think you will be trading Iverson..You wouldnt be able to score points without AI..

The last time he was almost traded, and then came back was in 2001, and we went to the Finals...
