Somebody is giving BSU a #1 vote in the polls to keep their non existent SOS a boost. It's a joke.

I think they also played Florida State.

Yeah they did, but I was talking about the rest of their schedule. Funny thing is, Florida State turned out to be extremely overrated and is now out of the rankings entirely. What a joke the state of Florida turned out to be.

FSU seems to always be in the top 25 and then after 3 or 7 loses finally drops out. I can't think of any team (well, maybe Notre Dame) who gets the same treatment.

Well if Stanford beats us I think they'd jump Boise State in the BCS rankings. Assuming that doesn't happen it's possible that Alabama or LSU wont drop behind them either even with a loss.

    this

they'll at least need the other undefeated teams ahead of them to lose... several of the one loss teams will likely jump them too.

Remember also that South Carolina was a beast team b/c of Marcus Lattimore. Now that he only has one non-shredded ACL, I think you'll see them decline in the standings and rankings.

Exactly. I think Clemson will slowly fall off as well.

I don't know if they will play the the title, but if they do over a 1 loss Alabama or Oregon team it is a travesty.

If Boise State is one of only 2 undefeated teams at the end of the season it will be a travesty if they don't play for the title. They beat a pretty good Georgia team in Atlanta and their MWC schedule is better than what they've been used to in the WAC. Kellen Moore will be winningest college quarterback of all-time as well. I think they would deserve the shot.

what a fan feels is right doesn't matter and posting that same thought again and again won't change this. The way the BCS works strongly suggests BSU won't get a shot if there are one loss teams like Oregon, Bama, etc... and most likely there will be. This isn't a travesty, this is reality

Is it fair to punish a team simply because the rest of their conference isn't strong and they weren't able to schedule high ranked OOC teams? It's not rare for good teams to back out of playing teams like BSU and even Oregon and Fresno - back in the day - so despite best efforts, a team wouldn't get a fair shot simply because other teams aren't good?

    Doesn't sound fair to me.

Is it fair for a team who has to play 12 or 13 tough teams and makes it through the gauntlet to get passed by a team that has a cake schedule against 12 or 13 inferior teams?

    Two thoughts:

There is a SOS element to the computer polls, and human voters also consider schedule played.

Also, there's a reason Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC conferences have automatic berths, whereas Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference have to earn berths through rankings/polls.

Bottom line, it all comes down to wins and losses and the top 2 teams appear in the NC game. (unless you play in Mid-Am, MWC, Sun or WAC).

So, who is actually being penalized?

No team winning the majority of that gauntlet gets penalized. Win the your conference and go BCS'in. Win them all and have a very good chance at going to the NC (unless you play in Mid-Am, MWC, Sun or WAC). .

BCS has BSU at #4. We've been through this already. BSU pounded an SEC team by 14 points and that same SEC team is 4-1 in conference play. They also beat Toledo and Tulsa, who are currently undefeated in conference play.

Hey, I hope BSU goes to the Natty so I can watch LSU or Alabama monkeystomp them and then the debate will finally be over.

That's not a bad thought. If they play a team like Alabama/LSU, they probably lose by 50 and then never see the NC game again.

    BSU beats Georgia by 14

Georgia beats Tenn by 8 (+22 differential)

Ironically, both LSU and Bama beat Tenn by 31

    Don't bet on that 50.

Even if it's not 50, it will probably be a blowout.
