His FB status: "In LA right now working out. I ran the other day for the first time in awhile. Felt good!"

Ummm ... Doesn't that seem a little ... uh ... shocking to people? What has it been, something like a full year right?

November 17th, so nearly an entire year.

Who know how many self-inflicted setbacks he had this time around.

Most shocking would have been when he said LA he meant LaMarcus Aldridge.

Considering this is what his 3rd/4th injury? I'm not shocked at all he's taking it extremely slow, add in the F%$&#@% Lockout and there's no reason to rush anything. Plus, running is the hardest thing for your knees so no point in doing it up till now.

Furthermore, being a contract year for Greg he's gonna wanna be 100% healed when he does return.

The best way to avoid injury is to make sure the muscles that support the knee are fully strengthened and I'd argue that jumping and landing are the hardest thing on somebody's knees (but that's neither here nor there).

As for this being a contract year, not playing at all might be the only shot he's got at getting a contract. Here's the logic: 1) If he plays and gets hurt again he's done, and 2) if he doesn't play at all he can't get injured and there will still be enough of a question mark that somebody might actually make him an offer.

I shouldn't be surprised *sigh* it's just par for the course with this guy.

Oh well, better luck next time (... we draft in the top 3).

Which kinda sucks because there just aren't any center prospects out there. Andre Drummond is the best big out there but he's more of a PF than a C, so they say.

To get our center we'll likely have to trade for him.

Oh I wasn't thinking near term, I was writing more about when it's our turn to pick that high again, which seems to come about once every 20 years or so ... so only 15 more to go!

When your 7' 285 every stride is like a run and jump... If I had to ventured a guess I'd say Greg has been working hard to strengthen his knee's this summer. Guy is out to prove everyone wrong, and I'm betting he does. Call me a risk taker, but I like to win big, and G.O. is our greatest source to do so. I'm Not giving up on him like everyone else.

What exactly is the risk that you're undertaking here?

Hypothetically Betting on Oden, against the line. Unless you want to propose one?

I ran 8 miles this last monday; first time since surgery on my ACL/Meniscus and some MF surgery, Feb 9th. I still am not 100% back to normal, close though. Point being, this sounds normal to me, specially considering his previous injuries..

You know, if he does get injured again...I would clap for him, tell him thanks, and let him enjoy his retirement.

I don't think we can expect anything else at this point.

That being said, if healthy, he's still got another 10-13 more years of high level basketball ahead of him. I wish him the best.

NIce to know he's really back on his feet again. I agree with Walton that he needs to lose weight and take some stress off his knees. If the lockout continues for the season, it may be a blessing in disguise for him and us. He has the time to really heal, plays well, signs a new contract and away we go.
