Re: Let's talk about a back-up plan okay, some say paul is leaning towards re-signing, others say he will leave to go to a contender. So incase he leaves, we may need to trade him earlier while his stock is highest. If we could trade him for one or two promising young players and an expiring contract, i'd almost be satisfied. I mean, it would kill me to see Pierce leave Boston, but i would also like to see him get a ring. So who are some possibilities for Pierce? Who are some players you would probably want in return for Pierce. And i don't want anyone to say that they don't want to give up pierce, bc we are speaking hypothetically anyways, if we HAD to give him up.
Re: Let's talk about a back-up plan If I'm Danny Ainge, I sit down with Pierce, Doc, and Wyc, and I have a long conversation with him. I would talk about our future, his realistic plans, and realistic expectations of the kids. Then I talk about where we will be as a team in 3 years with this current roster. But the basis of the conversation would be to get a straight answer out of Paul. If Paul says he wants to stay for the rebuilding, see what happens, and retire a Celtic, then great - sign him to an extension. If not, it's time to trade him.
Re: Let's talk about a back-up plan First, i think Aigne will try as hard as he can to get a viable second option for pierce. If he can't do that, then i'm afraid pierce might want to go elsewhere.I'm thinking we could possibly trade him to phoenix (likely in a 3-way deal), bc they have ATL's pick, which could very well be in the top 5-10 picks. We'd have two lottery picks in a freaking awesome draft. we could get someone like thaddeous (sp?) young, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer (i'm in love with Brewer). Maybe even Yi Jianlian and Julian Wright. Alot of great players to choose from.Do you think Phoenix would do something like Marion/ATL's pick for Pierce? We could throw in our pick or Minny's pick, or someone else. I wouldn't mind that.
Re: Let's talk about a back-up plan So far I think your idea of getting Marion is the only one I would be ok with. I think Marion would do well with the young guys esp Telfair. Green would have a chance to step up as a scorer because although Marion can score he isn't the type of player that creates for himself alot. I think that might be a nice shakeup, but I would still prefer Pierce.
Re: Let's talk about a back-up plan ^the main perk in that trade is the lotto pick, in a great draft.
