I never even received warnings. My parents made a list and posted it on the refrigerator. It had crime and punishment for such crime listed on it. Ranged from switch to grounding. If I stole, harmed someone not in self defense, broke a law, was disrespectful to an adult, etc. I was marching outside to get a switch. If I was too wild in the house and broke something I got grounded the first time and spanked there after. Knowing in the back of my mind that my mom or dad would spank the shit out of me, made me a very well behaved boy, young man and adult.

Fast forwarding to today, all three of my children get rave reviews about how well behaved they are and wished that other kids were that well behaved. They know if they're not they will get more than a timeout. I also have a son with adhd and anxiety disorder. Not a great combo for him or the household. he has huge rages because he doesn't know how to deal with the anxiety, do I beat him because of it....no because it's not something he wants to do. If I remind him that whether or not he can control the level of his anger at the time, he can't be disrespectful and he continues......A nice swift swat on the ass calms him down ASAP

You can't answer the question, or you don't want to answer the question?

    What would you do next?

ps I am expecting you to drop this at any moment because there is only one answer.

I answered it. You have to hit them. You're right, violence solves all problems.

Imagine if he stabbed you with a knife. That would have been more effective.

Maybe I should have been more clear.

Would you like to try and answer the question honestly, or are you not able to do that? It is just an opinon I am looking for. Whether I agree with it or not means nothing. The question, and anyone can answer, is after timeouts, groundings don't work, what is the next step?

Concur, though, with whoever said it above....there's "spanking," and there's child abuse. Swatting a child on a diaper-covered bottom is different than punching a kid in the face.

I never got anything harder than a belt, and nothing after age 10 or so, but it's another tool to use. One of my nieces will change behavior if her father so much as raises his voice a bit. Her sister is usually punished by being sent to her room for a time. Another sister needs the physical side for any effect to happen. I have no idea why that is, but I don't think you do, either, and applying some overarching "it's always child abuse!" :MARIS61: line is both hyperbolic and ignorant.

Sensory deprivation. Maybe starve your children until they "get it".

You should have only been given a timeout. That horrible man. You go sit in the corner for 5 minutes and think about what you did

Ok, don't try to answer. I don't care anymore. It simply proves you have no answer

Cool, and be childish about it. I'd love to have a real discussion about this when you are ready

perhaps the judge already tried the timeout and the light spanking which didn't seem to work. the only logical next step is to step it up a bit, no?

In all seriousness, if someone that doesn't believe in spanking would like to try and answer my question, I would appreciate it.
