I'll be watching on TV of course! This is a dangerous game for the Ducks in my opinion. UW's defense sucks, but they can move the ball! Keith Price and Chris Polk are going to be a handful. The thing that will make this fun though is the fact that the Huskies and their fans absolutely HATE the Ducks! I think the animosity is even greater than what we Beaver fans feel. This is going to be a physical game. I just hope nobody gets hurt.
My girlfriend and I will be watching the game at the Ram in Seattle. We were there at the bar for the Ducks vs. ASU game, as well. When I cheered a Ducks score (against ASU, mind you!), the dude sitting next to me leans over and spouts off, "You're in the wrong country to be rooting for the Ducks, pal." I can only imagine what things will be like there tomorrow night. I'll have my Ducks long-sleeve on under a sweatshirt. Once I get a feel for the lay of the land, as it were, I may just go ahead and peel off the sweatshirt. Should be interesting at any rate.
You are a brave man. If I was in Eugene watching the Civil War in a sports bar I wouldn't be able to help myself. I would be cheering like crazy! Not sure how that would go over...
The GF got a little antsy when that guy leaned over. He was sitting next to two friends. I just smiled at him and kept drinking my beer. She later told me that she would jump on anyone's back who tried to mess with me. I'm, like, yeah, right, honey. This time, we have one of those "house divided" things going on as she's a Huskies fan. Hmmm.....perhaps we should just watch the game at her house and order in pizza.
This may be a trap game. The Huskies will be as fired up as they can be. We could get caught looking forward to Stanford. I'm nervous about this one.
UW defense gives up more yards than the offense earns. Not a good thing when you're facing a team who leads the conference in yards per game and averages 47.5 ppg. Aren't you always nervous?
Was listening to a Seattle station on the drive up. They've pretty much conceded the game to the Ducks. The "only" chance the Huskies have, they claim, is if the Ducks make some stupid mistakes/turnovers. Even then, the Huskies would have to score over 35 points to have any chance of winning. They claimed that, sure, due it being the last game in the current Husky stadium (Huskies will then play in Century Link Field for two years while their stadium is being renovated), it's gonna be a highly emotional start. The DawgFather and other Husky luminaries will be on-hand for the various festivities. However, they claim all that emotional stuff will wear off within 1 quarter and the Ducks should roll following that. Side story: I arrived here last evening before my girlfriend got off work. So, I decided to pop into a local sports bar to catch some of the USC/Colorado game to kill some time. Well, the place is a big-time Huskies bar. Crapola all over the walls, and stuff. Anyway, as I was sitting myself up to the bar, I asked the bartender if Ducks fans were allowed in the joint. Heh, it was almost as if the jukebox stopped playing while everyone slowly turned their heads around to glare at me. OK, OK, it wasn't quite that bad, but I did get a few looks. The bartender did laugh, though, and responded with a, "Sure, but happy hour just ended." (In reality, it ended in an hour.). We all had a few laughs. The guys sitting next to me said the result will be the same as in years' past....yada, yada, yada. Then, here's the clincher.....as I then had the nerve to talk some relatively harmless Ducks quasi-trash, my hand accidentally swiped the glass next to me, dumping the drink pretty much across the lap of the guy who was sitting there next to me. Ooops! OK, well, fortunately, he was cool with it. Actually, most of the drink missed his lap, spilling down onto the floor. Generally, I come across to folks as pretty much harmless.....so we all got a good laugh out of the whole ordeal. The drink belonged to one of the servers, so it wasn't the guy's drink. I bought him a Guinness anyway, so he was a happy camper. I left in one piece. Go Ducks!
I've got my Ducks long-sleeved on. GF is actually gonna let me get out of the house with it on. I do love that woman.
Sounds like a keeper! Go Ducks! (just a friendly tip, you're safe in the bar. just don't leave a clue as to which car is yours and if you have oregon plates, park under light in a high lighted area) Those husky fans are going to be bitter and petty after we lay a Duck whoopin' on them!
Dyang, thanks for the warning, there. Yep, do have those Oregon plates. The car will be parked at her place all weekend. Perhaps, I should go out and remove those plates until I depart on Monday.
sorry, meant to say park in lighted area in high traffic area. i just don't trust husky fans, because i've been on the receiving end. maybe a $5 husky flag flying on the window (i know, it would be painful, lol) might prevent a lot of headache! you know the saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer! lol.
I like Ballard. Go to the Fred Meyers down there and lots of times you can see Sig Hanson's boat docked behind it.
Actually, my GF knows and has partied with Sig. She just told me that we could probably go out on his boat sometime. Not sure if I want to go that far, though.
